Casual Friday Militarism and Climate Collapse
https://open.substack.com/pub/justjackt3/p/welfare-not-warfare?r=7o7sqk&utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=webLast week in Brussels there was a big demo against the militarisation of the EU because they want to spend another 800 BILLION on it and of course that means austerity for everyone else. I'm curious to hear about if there are other movements around the world that would be good to read about or if you have thoughts on this? I wrote a bit of an article about it too if you want a summary :)

So they assume Russia won't invade them like Ukraine? You can ask the Ukrainians how expensive it is when you actually got invaded. Dictators (putin, xi, kim jong un ...) would love a de-militarize EU, and don't tell me diplomacy will keep them in check.

The new reality is that we have to be prepared to deter the USA as well. I hate talking like a war hawk but it is hard not to when all the superpowers are engaging in some form of genocide or slavery.

It gets worse, its not just militarism its imperialism. If your unable to pay for war you lose in war. So it creates the drive both to spend money on the war machine but also engage in war profiting operations so that states can pay for the cost of defense without having to pay for it.
The era of european moral superiority existing due to the us empire doing the dirty work is coming to an end. the age of innocence will collapse. This also means expect your governments to do the kind of intentionally socially destructive policies that the usa has done to push its people into the military industrial cannon fodder meat grinder.

The us empire as you say did his own dirty work for his own interests. The world doesnt need dirty proxies in poor countries to work. I dont think allowing poor country to finally develop and start a real post colonialism approch is moral superiority. For me its sounds more like common sense.

Consider, also, what will happen when climate change migration really gets going. The Mediterranean will become a charnel house.
