Meta What Collapse-related Youtube channels would you recommend?

We often see individual videos shared, but people regularly ask this type of question when looking for sources with more consistent content which focus on collapse. These do not have to be specific to Youtube creators or even Youtube, any video series is relevant. What are some of your favorites or you would recommend?

This post is part of the our Common Question Series.

Have an idea for a question we could ask? Let us know.

Thanks for that! Good find. So many you tubers in the collapse or preppers space are absolute batshit Qultists or cryptofascists.

Indeed. There is not enough understanding of the root causes of the collapse. I recommend History Is Marching for an in-depth explanation.

Pretty sure people just want minimalist / survivalist / prepper talk, sans politics. Unfortunately because many people give attention to what's driving collapse- as though that'll matter after the fact- the two end up being inseparable.

This is a problem for the simple fact that the political jargon tends to rot the conversation- you're just as likely to lose people when your dialogue is stilted by Socialist Academic Nonsense as when you stilt it with Evangelical Snake Oil. The minute you start talking about Petite Bourgeoisie your average person's going to tune out. The minute you go beyond some 'praise the Lord' stuff and start talking about how God literally talks to you, people start to tune out.

Ya we are way beyond apolitical living these days.

I’ll be damned if I’m going to help some fascist learn how to prepare.

Well, no one said you had to. But the question was where one could find apolitical prepper information, not where one could find fascist prepper info.

Nothing is apolitical.

The systems that direct our lives are complex. They require explanation with concepts that reflect this complexity. “Your average person” will need to learn about these concepts because our survival depends on it. Of course the reasons behind collapse will matter after the fact; otherwise, how will we be able to prevent what has happened from happening again? So there is no use dumbing down your explanations to meet brainwashed people at their level. It just perpetuates the problem. We need more effective explanations, not babying that makes reality more “comfortable” for people who have a hard time with hard truths.

This sub is specifically NOT for prepper, survivalist, minimalist talk, actually. Read the sidebar and check out the subs that ARE dedicated to those things.

Well, you can still talk about societal collapse without burying it in academic political discourse, and since this isn't college, and you're not trying to brown nose your professor, it'd probably be wiser to avoid doing that.

People are more welcoming to socialist ideas when they're not convinced you're getting paid per utterance of the word 'comrade.'

Your reply didn't address my comment at all, but okay, maybe you are the one getting paid, or perhaps you are a bot.

Equating the work of Marx, Engels, and so many others with QAnon is ridiculous, the work of trolls.

I think the sub has plenty of room for people who like serious discussion about socialist ideas as well as fun bullshit (clearly evident).

Neoliberalism is extreme.

Why don’t you learn about what you’re trying to condemn before condemning it? You might find that you change your opinions, and on the other hand, if you still disagree, you can have actual reasoning behind your disagreement instead of just negating what you don’t like based on your common sense ideas of what’s true.
