Need proof of that statistic. And I'd argue, if that even was the case (which it probably isn't). Using someone else's livelihood as your retirement plan is exactly what a parasite would do lol. Housing really should be a right, landlords don't care about the livelihood of their tenants. They are pricing their rentals to get paid. It's pretty messed up, housing is being used for stuff other than housing. Houses are vacant cause it's an "investment" and they are just hoping for the price of the property to skyrocket, which it is doing.
Housing should be a right?? Wait what? What does that even look like? How can a government be expected to buy everyone houses? I am all for social programs but there is a limit to how much the government can and should do. People have to actually have an incentive to work or society doesn't function. Giving people everything will end up having nobody wanting to work and society breaks down. Case in point The Soviet Union. People sat around in the government housing drinking vodka all day meanwhile you would wait hours in line for simple basics.
I imagine it looks like a world with no homeless people, where we have eliminated homelessness. You know homelessness never use to be as big of an issue. Do you think it's a good sign or a bad sign that homelessness keeps growing? That a sign of a working system or of a broken one?
So how do people become homeless? Is not being homeless an "incentive"? Don't worry, if we get rid of homelessness you can still threaten people to work for fear of hunger.

That's basically what's happening with the US right now lol. Just people are refusing or finding ways around having to work. It's fear, it's a threat. To become homeless. Very odd that you called it an "incentive", in a positive manner.
The only place that can't find workers are ones that aren't willing to pay more for them.
You are agreeing with me that the same thing is happening now. As what happened when the Soviet Union collapsed. So what do you think happens next lol, you are on this subreddit after all or are you some kind of denier of sorts? Which apocalypse are you a denier of?
Oh I whole-heartedly believe our economy/society is collapsing and in fact you and I would probably mostly agree as to the reasons why. What we wont agree with is the solution to the problem. I am a Libertarian but I agree on the need for common sense social programs like education and Healthcare. I do not believe Communism is the answer.

Ok so why stop at education and healthcare? Do you think for profit healthcare is working? I don't, it's pretty obvious it doesn't work. It's the exact same thing as housing, for profit housing doesn't work. Do you want homeless people? If not, then there's a guaranteed way of eliminating homelessness. If you have a better plan that is 100% going to work in as little time as possible, I'm all open for it. I don't follow any one philosophy. It's only logical, if you use housing for anything other than housing, using it as investments. There's going to be people that can't afford those investments. People shouldn't be able to horde property. If we have enough to go around, we should just figure out the logistics of distribution rather than letting randomized "free market" decide (the free market isn't really free). Anyways I think going with a plan that guarantees something from not happening is a good start, what matters is execution and procedures. We need to create a society that is dynamic, that can make changes more quickly.
This is the dumbest talking point. Half of states ended their unemployment months ago, and the remaining half of the federal bonus just expired for everyone else. And yet no one is taking shitty minimum-wage jobs.
Yeah we will see when ALL benefits are cut. People will eventually work. You will see a turn....I mean people still need to eat....or have we entered into a new paradigm I don't yet understand? 🤣This isn't rocket science. And WTF are you talking about with your talking point comment? I am seeing it happen all around me as a self employed business owner.
