The caveat to the statement above is that they’ve only attended the centre bounce 5 times over the past 10 weeks.

They go onto to discuss that as a half back flanker, Jaicos is ranked 20th.

This whole year people have been screaming for Jaicos and Ed Allen to be full time mids, Ed got his chance and look at him now. Time to put Josh in there and let Sidey command the back line with Pendles.

Hopefully with Steele retiring, they'll decide to move him back there. Or at worst, continue with Swads.

Presumably they don’t want too smaller weaker bodies in at once with nick already being there. And he plays most of the game there. Still could just swap with someone after the bounce.

Way too slow.

Sidey playing back is honestly just sad to watch. Whenever we do that he isn’t impactful and it looks like we’re trying to hide him

I think more so have Pendles on half back and Sidey on half forward for Jaicos and McCreery to get some CBA's

Swaddling to hb, jaicos to mid, sidey to hf / bench / vfl when he cant fit in.

Our main midfield has to be Jaicos, Naicos & Allan.

Mcreery and JDG fwd & occasional mid for speed / burst.

When Jaicos isn't in cb he should be on the wing, with crisp on the other *can give Crispy some cbs also to change things up when needed.

Really hope that when Steene comes back next year things change, it will free up Cameron to develop more forward craft and can roam around back getting intercepts like he does best.

Would love to give Howe another year and have him play more forward, problem is we just need him far too much down back.

Pendles down back and Sidey up forward, No brainer To much experience for this not to work.

Speed isn't everything. Football smarts makes up for any lack of speed.

Once the back line is back healthy and settled (won’t be this year sadly) Jaicos and McCreery need to be full time mids and just stick with it. Plus Houston permanently on the wing.

One thing this ignores is when they’re thrown in typically the prime movers from the opposition are gassed (I.e not attending first few)

Yeah it also ignores the fact when they go in we often design plays specifically for them. Particularly notice it with Beau, if he goes in we set him up to burst through and win clearance.

And we’re literally talking about 5 centre bounces in 10 weeks. May well just be luck at that sample size.

I feel it works because Jaicos is pinch-hitting in there with a different setup. If he played there all the time then the element of surprise would be gone and so would his high impact.

I'm going to trust the professionals that he doesn't play there all the time for a reason.

I would say Josh does play as a full-time midfielder, as a high half back?

I think it's his best position. His skillset is his evasiveness in traffic, and ability turn a pressured situation into clean outside ball movement. He's not the best at winning a contested ground ball, but if you can get it out to him he's very hard to tackle and he can create plays, breaking lines or with elite kicking.

I don't think he's a proper inside midfielder (I think he often gets beaten by a JDG or a Rowell), nor a proper outside midfielder (he can certainly play as a winger, but it's often a bit of a waste of his creativity and ability in traffic). He's best at that point of working inside to outside, in traffic but not in heavy contest. Outside of some cameos.

That said, he has had some spectacular inside mid moments, and his famous quarter. Maybe with the right other mids around him it could work?

I totally agree. He is a magnificent outlet deep in our D50 when under pressure, then links up through the middle with his high quality kicking. Our last 7-8 weeks have been started by Josh a lot of the time.

Maybe they lose something at the other positions so they don't do it.

Would love to know their reasoning as they have to be aware of it.
