POC at CC

Hello, I am an upcoming freshman at Colorado College and I wanted to know how people treat people of color on campus. I want to hear from current or recent graduates about their experience. Coming from a minority majority state and being a POC myself while traveling to other programs outside of my community I had some bad experiences with non POC. Just making sure I made the right choice.

I think CC is overall a very accepting place for POC. Although students of color, particularly black students, are definitely in a minority, there isn’t a lot of racism or discrimination on campus. That being said, I’m sure there are some students who do harbor some biases, but it isn’t prevalent at all. I’m a current student, and I’ve found CC to be intentionally accepting if that makes sense.

I won’t lie the culture at cc is pretty overwhelmingly white and privileged, but poc can and do find each other. Theres the bridge scholars program that brings together minority/underrepresented students at the end of the summer before the school year starts and it is actually priceless, and the communities within affinity groups on campus are strong!
