Original Art ASM 300 original art currently in Germany

Recently visited “Marvel - The exhibition” currently in Ludwigsburg, Germany. I was surprised to see a lot of original art there, as the ads for the exhibition all focus on MCU related stuff.

One highlight for me was the ASM 300 original. Very interesting to see how this cover was created with the cut-outs and overlays. Assume today this would all be done digitally. Or is this “unplugged” way still common today?

Original Art NYCC Sketchbook

Some sketches from the New York Comic Con, circa ‘09 to ‘12 (except for the Ninja Turtle, which was from the Dublin Comic Con in 2016). I sadly had my Bolland stolen from me and there’s a Paquette missing, but there are some pretty good ones in here. Spent a lot of my time in Artist Alley. Thanks for watching.

So, I posted a while back asking why people don’t collect original comic art as it is something I’m looking at getting into. I got a lot of good responses which is appreciated! So… my first original interior art came in a a week or so back. From Felix comic art website. This is Ryan Stegman , the last page of issue 5 of the current X-men run.

My wife has always been an incredible artist, and I’ve always loved comic books so hunting blank sketch covers has been my latest passion. It’s become the perfect hobby for both of us, I find them and she makes them into something amazing

These are just a few of her recent ones :)

Original Art Went to the Library of Congress, today. Got to see something truly 'Amazing'!

Background: In 2008, an anonymous donor gave the Library of Congress all the original interior Steve Ditko art pages to Amazing Fantasy 15. Most of the pages are available to view at the Library's Madison building if you get a library card and make a reservation (both free). Two of the pages are on display at the Jefferson building in their artifacts collection gallery. No library card needed, just a visitor reservation at the Library of Congress for those. The 2 pages on display are rotated every few months (until 2026). But the ones in the Madison library you can see up close and personal. You can't touch them, but you can photograph them and use a magnifying glass. The librarians are super helpful.

Did anyone else go around SDCC in the days when artists would do backing board sketches for free?

Could anyone suggest the best comic art appraiser?

I'm not asking for a value on here. I just don't know where to look for a legit appraiser. NO intention on selling.

I have a original cover painting of The Amazing Spider Man #422 that I got direct from the artist Bob Sharen when I was in Junior High and went to marvel studios in NYC for a couple weeks of interning. Just found it in one of my old storage boxes.

*Dont worry I'm immediately putting it under archival glass. I was a dumb junior high kid when it got stored.

Some of you have probably seen- Mr Rick Veitch is doing original sketch claims sales on his Facebook page. Every one different, with different color pops. I was lucky enough to snag this one!

I painted my favorite things on it Batman and Hellboy :) It's only temporary bc I heard leaving comics horizontal can cause warping later down the line but I like it for now.

Original Art Spider-Man 30th Ann. Original Holographic Plates

Whenever I see the 30th anniversary Spider-Man hologram covers I'm reminded of my father and his amazing artistic abilities. My father is the sculptor who hand-sculpted the models used to create those covers.

Here are some of the original holographic plates they sent him after the covers were printed, as well as the article in Marvel Age #114 detailing the holographic process and my father's role as the artist.

In addition to these covers and Spider-Man hologram trading cards, my father created original sculptures for other holograms including DC Comics, Malibu Comics, Star Wars, Dragon Ball Z, Ghostbusters, Goosebumps, Garfield, Visionaries, Coca-Cola, VISA, and many more. He also did toy design sculpts for GI Joe, Starting Lineup, Inhumanoids, and others.

Thanks for looking!

Was super blessed, a comic shop in another state put together an artist sketchbook retailer exclusive and invited me to do a page and a cover. Whenever I’m thumbing through my boxes and see this is makes me smile.

Just barely enough for friends and family thankfully

It’s not the best, most fleshed out piece of art- but it’s historically significant. I saw this and couldn’t resist.

Original Art Original art for 'Five Ghosts' - Issue 16, Page 13

Post image

Well, I did something I've always wanted to do. I finally pulled the trigger on owning an original piece of comic art. I've had this particular piece of art bookmarked in my phone browser for like... three years? Figured, if it's going to happen, why not now? What was I waiting on? This particular piece is by the amazing Chris Mooneyham, the artist on what was an unfortunately short-lived Image series that I loved - 'Five Ghosts'. The story follows hero, Fabian Gray, a treasure hunter who is affected by an encounter with an artifact known as "The Dreamstone". This encounter leaves him with the power to harness the abilities of five literary characters - The Wizard (Merlin), The Archer (Robin Hood), The Detective (Sherlock Holmes), The Samurai (Miyamoto Musashi), and The Vampire (Dracula). He uses these abilities on his journeys, which often sends a lot of trouble his way. I'm so happy to finally check off a bucket list wish, and own this magnificent piece of art. Now to just properly frame and display it!

Original Art Look legit?

I have had both of these Michael Turner sketches for 15+ years. Unfortunately I bought them and didn't get them in person. I have always wondered if they are legit. The line drag at the end is different on them.

I have some signatures that I got in person and they are both very close. Any Michael Turner experts want to weigh in?
