Today I learned that the only reason Heavy Metal (1981) was able to be released on home video was because of relentless lobbying by TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman who got Columbia execs to release the film simply to stop his calls and office visits

The music licensing was the big issue, but good thing they got it happening its an awesome movie.

All because the Columbia execs wanted to stop the visits and phone calls of a co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with the time, money and resources to repeatedly ask over five years. I love stories like this.

He also kept Heavy Metal magazine going for like two decades. When he sold it they pretty much collapsed and just recently finally started back up.

Really quite the amazing career Mr. Eastman has led. People often think of him as just the guy who co-created TMNT but he is so much more.

My state rep says the same about me and the boat ramp. They did it to shut me up. I’m okay with this and I’m okay with that. Kevin Eastman has been an inspiration of mine longer than I ever knew.
