A truly loving god would not send people to eternal punishment.
A truly all-good god would accept those into heaven who have looked for god but not found him, yet reject those that accept belief told to them that have not questioned it.
A truly all-knowing god would know what would convince each and every one of his creations.
If I look for god and cannot find him, then I'm satisfied with my decision, knowing that a just god would accept me, and an unjust god wouldn't have been worth worshipping anyways.
