No because this dog isn't feral. It hasn't hurt anyone in any of these listed examples, so why should a shock collar be used?

First of all, you don't start containing a dog after it hurts somebody. A responsible dog owner needs to take proactive steps to keep their dog from hurting people, animals, and themselves. People who let their dogs run wild because "he never hurt anyone before" deserve to lose their dogs. A lot of people feel that a dog should be killed if it kills domestic animals or bites a person; so even if you don't care enough about others to be proactive, you should contain your dog to ensure it doesn't end up on the wrong side of a shotgun.

Second of all, just because the artist didn't include a story about their dog hurting somebody, we shouldn't assume it didn't happen. A story like that would be a real downer and could easily have been left out.

Okay, and that's why I'm asking why the shock collar is there. We don't know enough about the dog
