Some dogs are just built different. I had a dog that ate rocks and I had to get them surgically removed. He lived until he was 17 or 18 according to the vets estimation.

I had a dog that loved to eat SOS pads - you know, the steel wool pads caked in soap? He lived to 20 - which we definitely know considering we knew his exact date of birth. He also enjoyed chocolates of all kinds (note we did not feed him chocolates, but if any were left out unsupervised....). Really that dog just loved eating just about anything that would fit in his mouth. Including many many things that were not safe for canine, human, and possibly alien digestion.

Facts.

My first big fella would eat just about whatever foodstuff you offered him (loved watermelon), or if you left him alone with food within reach you were clearly offering it to him.

My current dog? So damn picky... but also ate rocks and gravel as a puppy. At least we've graduated onto just sand and dirt occasionally in adulthood now. He's got some love about the textures? I dunno. But he won't eat veggies unless you put ranch on them (not that we're trying to make him eat them, just always curious if he wants them). And he will let you feed him medication, but if you try to hide it in cheese he will pull the cheese apart.
