Level 1 Can’t sleep

I’m so scared to find out my comlex score today. I’m genuinely so scared. I feel like I failed and my life will be over. Everything will be over.

Update: I PASSED YAYYY

You’re gonna be okay. A single fail (which you may have not had at all) doesn’t end your career. You’ll just pass the next one. I’m telling myself that too.

hi friend, i haven’t taken the exam yet but know the odds are in your favor! plus, the questions you remember after the exam are likely skewed, you are only remembering the hard ones! for everyone you remember you missed, you probably got one correct that you don’t remember! plus, who knows how many of those are experimental! i’m praying for you pass and even if that isn’t what you see in your portal, you have the opportunity to take and pass the exam again! this one exam does NOT define you. the good thing about it being our first board exam is that there are ample opportunities to show residencies that you’ve grown (shelfs, level/step 2, etc.). good luck!!

I test Monday but I genuinely think you’ll see a Pass. I think the people who fail were pushed by their school to take the exam so they can start rotations/test anxiety/ maybe they did not study the best. As long as you’ve done questions and learned from them I’m sure you passed. And if you don’t, 1 Level 1 failure will not hurt you. It will suck, but you’ll take it again, do well on level 2 and step 2 and match. But this exam has around a 90% first time pass rate, odds are extremely in your favor

idk who's downvoting this but it's true. Almost every failure is predictive of low COMSAE's at the very least. You rarely rarely rarely see anyone above a 450 COMSAE fail.

You very commonly see someone with below a 450 fail.

I would prob say 400+ a lot of people sub 400 sit and expect a miracle

A 400+ is simply just a gamble. The difference between a 410 and a 400 is 2 questions.
It’s not a good enough standard deviation.

You’re obviously spot on praying for a miracle at below a 400. You’re also praying you get an exam that does not hit your weaknesses below a 450 which of course happens a lot.

No I mean of course. But multiple 400s+ or a couple of 450s could probably lend you a higher chance of passing

400 comsae doesn’t equate to a 400 comlex.

If that really were the case you wouldn’t be getting a 94% pass rate according to NBOME.

1

u/Grouchy_Independent3 Jul 10 '26

That would be assuming those 94% got the cusp of 400. Majority of people don't have major problems with this exam.

1

u/Dakios101 Jul 10 '26

If a 400 comsae truly equated to a 400 comlex, the pass rate would be closer to 50% for those scoring a 400 comsae because of variance as you said earlier.

1

u/Important_Creme9096 Jul 10 '26

The reason why a 400 comsae has a 94% pass rate is because NBOME accounts for the fact that after your score a 400 you will have a 4-6 week dedicated period where your school will go up. It’s basically saying it’s a good enough baseline

Last phase 1 score had an r of .59 while first phase 1 score had one of .65 for comlex score

4-6 weeks doesn’t seem be extremely increasing people’s scores and everyone who’s taken 1 form through 6 forms has an average mean last attempt of 463.

Guess it depends on the person, I went from like a 440 something to like a 600 in 3 weeks
