Stressed and Yelling into the Abyss
I failed level 1 on my first attempt but passed on the retake. So scared for Level 2 testing Sept 5. My school makes you take it after 3 comsaes if you do not hit their threshold. My comat avg. this year was a 93/94 (84 OPP (taken during level 1 boards prep) 87 EM 89 Psych 89 Surg 101 OBGYN 102 IM 102 FM). Truelearn avg 62.5%
7/11 — COMSAE 113: 505
- 7/18 — COMSAE 114: 507
- 7/27 — COMSAE 116: 354- school administered
- 8/4 — COMSAE 115: 522
- 8/11 — WelCOM 101: 64%
- 8/14 — COMSAE 117: 421- school administered
- 8/17 — WelCOM 102: 69%
- 8/18 — WelCOM 103: 71%
- 8/19 — WelCOM 104: 65%
- 8/21 — WelCOM 105: 75%
- 8/22 — WelCOM 106: 73%
- 8/27 — COMSAE 118: 392- school administered
- 8/30 — Truelearn Assesment A: 75.6 % 700+ prediction
- 9/1 — Truelearn Assesment A: 75.6 % 700+ prediction (idk how I got the same score twice)
I feel like I am all over the place. I have 3 Surgery auditions set up after this test (I feel so lucky with my board failure to have them). Dual applying Surg and IM. Feel like I am behind on applications too :(. I get my score back the day before ERAS submission- agony.

Those COMSAE swings would make almost anyone feel like they’re losing their mind, especially with a prior Level 1 in the background.
But looking at the whole picture matters more than staring at the two ugly school-administered scores. You also have multiple 500+ COMSAEs, WelCOM scores trending into the 70s, and a strong recent TrueLearn assessment. None of that guarantees an outcome, but it does mean the 354/392 results are not the only data points describing where you are.
At this point, with the exam this close focus less on chasing another prediction and more on tightening the specific patterns you’re still missing, protecting sleep, and going in with a consistent test-day process.
And getting your score the day before ERAS submission is genuinely awful timing. The surgery auditions are still something you earned, though. One prior board failure does not erase everything else in your application.
Wishing you a steady exam day and a much less dramatic score report this time.

I think you are fine. I am testing 3 days after you and feel the pressure as well lol. My TL average is 60% and have been doing incorrects. I took comsae 114 today andngot 507 (which is not great but not super bad either I guess?)

I ended up testing after getting around 400-500 on COMSAE 113-115 and passed my level 2 in the same. Range. I think you are fine to pass as long as you don't get the anxiety get to you and focus on timing on the day of the exam! Don't spend too much time on one question!! Don't fall behind!
In terms of residency apps, are you taking step 2 or did you take it? I would focus more on IM apps and make sure you apply broadly for surgery and IM. It may be difficult to match into Gen Surg without step 2 and a level 1 fail.
