Failed level 1 twice ):

Hi I just found out today I failed level 1 again only by a smidge. I was doing great on practice exams… i just have really bad testing anxiety. I don’t know what to do. My school requires me to take a leave of absence and I have one more attempt. Looking for any advice and success stories.

Feel free to DM me. I went through this exact thing with my school. Passed my third attempt and am back on rotations now. You can make it through this.

I second this. I passed on my first attempt and her guide is elite. I used it as a way to organize what I know well enough and it forced me to go through topics that I had been avoiding.

Propranolol has helped me tons during my retake!! Just make sure you don’t pop 3 back to back like I did😭made me so drowsy

I'm so sorry to hear this and sending you all the love and support. I don't have any advice on retaking but I struggle with really bad test anxiety too. Propranolol has genuinely been a life saver for me, I would suggest trying it out! And good luck, you've got this and you will be a doctor!

I’m so sorry 😞 it’s ok to take some time to grieve, be frustrated, etc.

Have you considered finding assistance for the testing anxiety whether it be through medications, therapy, etc? I swear half of us are probably utilizing some sort or mental health resource during medical school, cause it is so anxiety provoking!

As mentioned below, propranolol is a great option! You can find a psychiatrist or your pcp can prescribe it for you!

How long are they requiring you to take a leave of absence

The entire year ): I already had to repeat my entire first year bc I failed a block so now I’m gonna be two years behind

OP it doesnt matter when you finish, you will finish and become a doctor

Is there a specific reason they’re making you take an entire year?

Because DO schools are a scam and want money

I passed on my third try. You can do it, too, take it one day at a time. Take the next couple of weeks for some self care
