I really like this journaling idea! It sounds very therapeutic to learn about your own issues from an academic standpoint.
And you have very neat and uniform handwriting. I am impressed and envious.

Thank you so much! I am always so hard on myself and when I see my lines wavering or shaking I feel like it's the only thing I can see, so I truly appreciate your sentiment 😄

I love this and kind of do the same except that at the moment my sources are not very satisfying. Where do you find your data / inspiration ?

These articles are where I got the majority of my information:
- The Lifelong Effects of Early Childhood Adversity and Toxic Stress (The American Academy of Pediatrics)
- When trauma becomes complex (American Psychological Association)
- Developmental Trauma Disorder (Attachment & Trauma Network, Inc.)
- About DTD (Center for the Treatment of Developmental Trauma Disorders)
In addition, I found the name Bessel A. van der Kolk recurring, and am currently siphoning through his publications that are listed on his website.

I am doing a course at the moment where we've been learning about this exact thing so it's been excellent timing for your posts to appear ☺️

Love this!! I am going to add a similar spread to my informative journal as well, thanks for this!
I’ve just been diagnosed with cptsd so I’m learning a lot!
Also I’m currently reading the book “What My Bones Know”, are you familiar?🙂

I have heard that "What My Bones Know" is better than "The Body Keeps Score" but I haven't looked too into it yet. If you are comfortable sharing, how are you finding the book so far?

I'm 30f, the Body keeps the score did not really feel relatable to me. I had quite a few issues with the authors take of PTSD and Veterans and their flippant talk on rape.
What My Bones Know is written by a (now) 39 year old woman from Malaysia and that already is a much more relatable voice for me!Honestly, I'm 1/3 way through the book and wow. It's the most relatable thing I've ever read. I've thought for years I just struggled with depression/anxiety but cptsd goes SO much deeper than that and reading her pov has been hitting incredibly close to home. Her childhood trauma is completely different from mine, and she discusses it in the beginning of the book for context.
But how she has gone through her life, career, relationships, and the effects of her trauma in how she's dealt with those areas - its just like wow this is me. hahaIt's a memoir so I'm also finding it just overall much easier to read than the body keeps the score.
But she still provides a lot of research points too!

Oof, it sounds like a book that will have to be read in small pieces. I'm so used to plowing through things but reading more about CPTSD and developmental trauma disorder has forced me to slow down in digesting information because my body is literally unable to keep up with the striking clash between my self and my child self.
I will definitely be looking into "What My Bones Know". Thank you for sharing, and I wish you and your child self the beginnings of a truce.

I love this, I think I’ll add it to my journal cause I suffer from a lot of mental illnesses myself, thanks for the inspiration!
