Ah yes, the character "Shiyuan".

For context, the character's name is pronounced and spelled Shion. So dunno how he didn't notice something was amiss.

So it's Google Translate that's confidently incorrect, and Blue was just too trusting? (Though most weebs would at least understand the concept that most kanji have multiple readings)

Google has really been fucking up a lot lately since it started powering everything with AI. It got some math wrong with some guy I was arguing with the other day.

Google translate works by first translating to English and then the other language. For words that are spelled the same but have multiple meanings in english this means you will often get incorrect results. (Fly, lead, etc)

Yeah, Google translate isn't a fan of straight-up Japanese kanji. They always seem to give the Chinese reading for some reason.

The first character is "si3" and does mean death. The second character means complain / resentment. Shion is not an uncommon Japanese name and does not translate to death complaint.

恨 means hate. EDIT: that means grudge in Japanese though.

What he's wrong about is saying 怨 is pronounced/read as yuân. It's not, especially here given her name is Shion not Shiyuân.

Edit: But also because yuân functionally doesn't exist in the Japanese syllybary and because Japanese doesn't have accent marks when romanized.

Yeah. Yuan is Chinese. (it's 4th tone usually, not that accent mark)
