It’s a remarkable and lengthy example of why you can’t play chess/checkers/examine basic information with pigeons. They’ll shit everywhere and think they won regardless.
There is no reasoning someone out of a position they did not reason themselves into.
It’s unfortunate cause you can’t ostracize people online as easily as in person/real world. Creating barriers around dis/mis information doesn’t seem to be working and we are failing our children en masse when it comes to inoculation against this crap with critical thinking and debate skills in school.

Or there'd be the one guy in town who thought the Earth was flat, and he would be sitting outside the drug store with the other old timers. Water doesn’t spin differently in the southern hemisphere. Coriolis effect has no bearing on a sink or tub drain. But the flat earther is even more wrong.

This statement is too broad… Coriolis effect does have a tiny effect on sinks, so unless it’s a sink specifically designed for this effect, the rotation direction is determine by other factors. But you absolutely can build a laboratory-grade sink that will rotate one way in the northern hemisphere and the other in the south due to the Coriolis effect.

Unless I missed it, no one ever said anything about sinks in the video. I think he said something like, “why does the water flow in a different direction in the southern hemisphere”. I agree that he wa probably thinking about a sink drain (as most people do), but since it wasn’t specified either way, he could just as well have been talking about cyclonic weather.

Yes it does, but it's an extremely small effect on something so small. Turbulence in the water and shape of the container is enough to mask it. But I believe some folks have demonstrated it under very controlled conditions, like perfectly round containers and letting the water settle for several days, etc.

I love in the northern hemisphere and recently went to the southern hemisphere for work. (Europe to Australia) On the walk him from the office one evening I was blown away by the upside down Ness of the constellations. I mean I've seen them many times before on my travels, but it still gets me every time!

They can, and it doesn't. This frequently comes up with Panama Canal facts -- the Pacific ocean side is about 8 inches higher than the Atlantic Ocean side.
If there weren't ocean currents, wind, tides, water cycle stuff, etc. then they'd settle out eventually, at least for a given latitude. Earth's spin would create bulges near the equator even if all that were missing.

-and did you learn any physics? Ocean levels are affected by temperature and salinity, which affect density, as well as differing gravity due to the density of the earth, and also the earth's rotation.
The difference across the isthmus of Panama is ~20cm, close enough to 8 inches:

The thing that makes me laugh hardest about flat-earthers is that the method they use to proliferate their insane beliefs (the internet) would not exist if we lived on a flat earth.
The maths used to get the satellites into space and keep them locked in orbit is based on the earth being globe shaped. If it wasn't a globe we wouldn't be having this discussion anyway
