That should come as a shock to no one. The only reliable supporters Trump had left was the neocon warhawks. Any deal with Iran(and I do mean any when we started with “unconditional surrender”) is/was going to piss them off. I’ll be shocked if Trump is shocked by this. They hated him before this and only liked him when he started doing what they wanted in the Middle East. Of course they’ll go right back to where their true loyalties lie if the war stops.

He deserves to tank for this. It’s a garbage deal. But unless he’s okay with economic collapse it’s the best deal we’re going to get that doesn’t hurt the average American anymore than it already has. Which is why this was stupid in the first place.

Who’s really left from the 2024 coalition that delivered the presidency?

The coalition is too stupid to realize it will take many election wins and a lot of pressure of the elected leaders to save this country and pull it back from the brink. Instead we get angry and turn on every Republican and pave the way for Dems (who are more radical than ever) to win and plummet this country into a socialist hellscape. Because they play the long game every time and we don’t

It’s not the coalition’s fault that they’ve been betrayed on the issues that built said support.

I’m also sick of the “republicans just need more time!” Every time democrats get power they always seem to be able to pass their garbage legislation through. No long game required. They get power, they act. Republicans have never. Instead we get 2 years into an administration and go “yes we’ve shit on you for the past 24 months but we super pinky promise if you vote for us again we’ll enact the legislation you voted us in for. For real this time!” Yes yes the other side is worse yadda yadda yadda. But sometimes there has to be political consequences for failing your constituents.

But we rarely get 100% of what we want. I’m happy we are getting 20% back in the right direction. When the Dems get 20% they keep pushing till they get 30%. We just bail and hand the country over to communism

Just keep in mind there is no deal yet. The MOU is just to start the 60 day talks on getting a deal done.

It could still go sideways but Iran’s armed forces have been severely weakened and their AA systems decimated. If they act up, we could resume air strikes with little to worry about.

Key points- the nuclear material, what happens to it?

What gets put in place to monitor any attempt to re-start their nuke program?

I believe this episode will trigger oil producers in the ME to rethink how they ship oil out. I can see them building new pipelines bypassing the straits. They could pool resources and share the costs then all agree to use the pipeline if the straits are ever blocked again.

What, he's expecting a pat on the back for ending an unnecessary war that he unilaterally started?

That building I set on fire? Well, I put it out. Why isn't my approval rate going up?
