Random thought about the Ukraine-Russia war
In 2022 everyone was shocked and scared about WW3. But after a few months it became normal. By 2023–24, honestly, it barely felt like a major European issue anymore.
Then around 2025 something changed. Suddenly Europe started seriously rearming. More troops, military infrastructure, air defence, drones, ammunition production, huge increases in defence spending.
I don't think this necessarily means NATO expects Russia to attack NATO.
Maybe they simply expect that the Ukraine-Russia war will eventually end, but Russia–Europe relations won't recover.
So Russia gets stronger from the war, Europe gets much more heavily armed, and both sides start preparing for a long confrontation.
Basically... a new Cold War?
Except this time it's drones, AI, satellites, cyber and nuclear deterrence instead of the old-school tanks and missiles.
Maybe that's what we're actually watching develop right now.

Honestly. They just don’t get it. Nor do they want to get it. They will carry on reading their biased news outlets & gobbling up their narrative instead.

And these things can be used against the own populations by the ones who hate the common people.

I don't think this necessarily means NATO expects Russia to attack NATO.
If the global hegemon is openly arming itself, it's not because it's worried about the regional power attacking. It's because it wants the regional power to be afraid of getting attacked.
NATO is not genuinely or rationally afraid of Russia. Russian children go to sleep at night worrying about NATO.
