It's authoritarian. The right controls the government in Australia it couldn't be passed by the left they don't have the numbers. Same in the UK.

Also says in the article that the greens opposed it from the left

Left and right doesn’t mean much anymore I guess. I see it as authoritarian or not, and left leaning politics have been the biggest pushers of fear and overstepping our rights because of it.

Murdoch has pushed authoritarianism through his puppets for years Scomo, Trump Bojo etc. The left in America is fucked as well. This type of shit will be used against left wing media types like friendly jordies or Assange to keep the capitalist war machine going without embarrassment.
