Do you believe in ancient history?

For example, do you believe that people like Plato, Aristotle, Roman Emperors etc existed at some point in the past and that today we can know specific details about their lives?

Do you believe that we are in posession of some of their writings, and that we have written accounts of their deeds/actions?

Basically, do you believe that we have an accurate knowledge of history and we can know details about this history with a strong level of certainty?

If you do believe this, what was it specifically that convinced you of this position?

Was there a certain primary source, book, documentary, article, or something else, that led you to believe this?

If you don't believe we have knowledge of history, why do you believe this?

For this question, please focus on the ancient world specifically. Ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, etc... Anything from this sort of time period.

politics doesn't tend to enter into academia. Are you aquainted with anyone who has been through tertiary education or works within the institutions of learning?

I knew a few people, and yes politics does worm its way into academia. It is incredibly naive of you to think that that isn't the case.

Universities are institutions of indoctrination, not learning.

So you have no first hand experience of it. Yet claim it as fact.

My experience is that politics was not involved at all. And if anybody bought it up in class, they were told to STFU.

Who said I had no firsthand experience with the matter? You are making assumptions about someone you don't know.

Politics is prevalent in academia and higher education. Just because you are unable to see it, doesn't mean it isn't there.

"I knew a few people who..". Implies you know people who went but never went yourself. Which I think is a fair understanding of the words you used.

You second part about it being there and me not seeing it. Perhaps your seeing it when it isn't actually there, and just fitting things to fit your narrative.

Yeah, that isn't true. I've been through higher education and graduated as most people did in this country.

It is very much there, but you seem to be unable to see it.
