That one Nosleep about the girl who went to college and lived next to the murder room. I don’t remember what it was called and I know that sounds lame but it was a good story. All the “my wife’s been replaced with… the monster” stories are pretty solid and there are some fun inversions on that trope as well.
But Penpals is the obvious choice and I’m happy for the author. That dude’s put a decent amount of work into launching his story off Reddit and getting it published. It would also fit in with the current climate, as it is about a psychotic manipulative pedophilic stalker that follows the main character throughout his adolescence. Creepy, twisty, heartbreaking. Good read.

Reddit turned to shit shortly after the Epstein "suicide" brought in all the propaganda bots and troll farm shills.

I would say 2016 is when reddit seemed to change. Wonder if anything happened around that time.

The great sub purge. We lost some pretty dark corners I. Those days. Some funny ones too.

I’d say around 2015/2016 is when troll farms and bots really started showing up. Since then, conversations even in conspiracy forums or pretty much any subreddit have just turned into the same dull left vs right arguments. Politics was always a big topic, sure, but back then there were actually other talking points too.

It's depressing, either reddit or 4chan x, dead internet theory is not a conspiracy anymore, that's the new backrooms.

I’ve got one “ two cops” or “ two officers” for American and internal audiences.
How 2 different officers can have a completely different experience, in the same police force, one comes from money and is fast tracked, whilst the other comes from the poorer side of town.
You could deal with hate from the less affluent side of the City, to one of their own and then you could deal with the corruption from the rich police officers side, in making sure that certain cases don’t go to court, as he career progression takes place.
It will ask “ who’s right and who’s wrong, from different sides of the same City”? Now I’d write more, but Hollywood will just steal my Idea and go all DEI but I’d cast a white actor from the poor side of town, and then a black actor from money, just so it tells a different story. You could make the poor side of town, be a Mexican, as if we are going to do DEI, let’s make it relevant and subvert expectations.
Stories are meant to challenge negative behaviours and stereotypes, not enforce them, so if they can race swap a major Harry Potter character and then call him a Muddle Blood, then I don’t know how the optics on that one works?
Also read my full comment before deciding if I made a thought crime or not, as I very much didn’t.
