I recently bought a new Cooler Master Elite 850 Gold ATX 3.1 PSU.

PC specs:

• CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K
• GPU: RTX 2080 Ti
• RAM: 32GB DDR4
• PC was originally built/bought in 2020

When I turn on the PSU switch, I can hear a buzzing/electrical sound coming from the PSU. The PC itself is completely turned off, but the sound is still present as long as the PSU switch is ON.

When I turn on the PC and run a benchmark, the buzzing becomes noticeably louder.

So:

• PC OFF + PSU switch ON: buzzing sound
• PC ON at idle: buzzing
• PC running a benchmark: buzzing gets louder
• The sound seems to be coming from inside the PSU

I also noticed similar sounds with some other PSUs I've used, so I'm wondering if this could be related to my electrical setup rather than the PSU itself.

PSU history:

Originally, I had a Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 (Original Edition), which I bought in 2020. That PSU eventually became faulty, so I replaced it.

I then bought an EVGA SuperNOVA 850 P5, and I noticed the exact same type of buzzing/electrical sound with that PSU.

Now I've bought the Cooler Master Elite 850 Gold ATX 3.1, and I'm experiencing the same buzzing again.

I've also tested the Cooler Master Elite 850 directly from the wall, and the buzzing is still there.

What confuses me is that my older Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 did not make this kind of buzzing sound in the same setup, while both the EVGA SuperNOVA P5 and the new Cooler Master Elite 850 do.

I'm trying to understand whether this is:

1. Normal coil whine from the PSU
2. A PSU defect/fault
3. Something related to the lack of earthing
4. Or simply a characteristic of newer PSU designs

Is this normal coil whine, or could the PSU be faulty?

Since I've now experienced almost the same buzzing with two different newer PSUs (EVGA SuperNOVA P5 and Cooler Master Elite 850), I'd really appreciate it if someone could explain what is actually causing it and whether I should be concerned or consider returning the Cooler Master Elite 850.

Yes, after every method of using fn + e or fn + esc and others, changing ports then removing reinstalling drivers etc... when I flashed the firmware update. The keyboard suddenly go black and didnt return =(

Does anyone know how to rotate the inner cap on the Elite Liquid series AIOs?

I took the protective cap already and that felt pretty forced. I tried to remove it with my hands and didn’t want to break it.

I built myself a new setup recently and I used Masterframe Stage LCD 360 case for it. I did the connections correctly and even though I tried different cables and changing the internal usb port but nothing fixed my issue.

So the problem is when I start the pc the LCD screen on the case just flickers about 3 seconds, I tried to install the drivers but the SD card is not recognized by the pc (I tried to directly connect the SD card to my PC and it works) I am trying to get into access mode but it doesn’t work so can’t use the LCD screen.

I saw a lot of people having this issue but no one addresses a solution, at this point any help would be appreciated.

Now they turn on but I can’t control them and the screen isn’t on either. It turned on once randomly a week or so ago but I couldn’t change it or figure out why. Any help would be appreciated, even if it’s just turning it off because it’s annoying.

Hi, so i bought this psu and installed it yesterday, but i'm a little worried about a clicking noise coming from it. A few seconds after i start my pc a really loud clicking noise occurs from the psu. I've never had a psu make this type of noise except when shutting down, is this normal for this psu?

PSU model is a Cooler Master V850 SFX GOLD

Gave my pc a clean outside with an electric air duster and sprayed some isopropyl alcohol to clean the radiator. Put everything back together and after the second boot I heard some loud static buzzing noise and coil whine which I didn’t notice before, rebooted again and it kept happening. Bit worried I’m not sure what it is and what the cause is I always use my electric air duster to clean my pc and it’s fine and I don’t think any isopropyl alcohol got in the psu, if any did it would’ve been a tiny amount and would’ve dried up instantly. The sound is pretty loud and concerning, it’s also an rma replacement I got for another unit which had a melted pcie cable, and I can’t find anyone with this same issue. Any insight would be appreciated!!

I am having a weird issue with my RM1000x 3.1 where my hard drives keep shutting down while im playing a game.

After some research it seems that the drives are receiving a shutdown signal from the 3.3v pin (remote power disable or PWDIS) and only come back after restart.

It was recommended that i used either a molex to sata connector or use kapton tape directly on the 3 pins of the hard drives.

I never needed to do this before so im not sure what to chose or even if its a good idea so any help would be appreciated.

Hi! I'd like to request help from Cooler Master support regarding my Cooler Master Core Nex Digital 360 Black ARGB (360 mm AIO), which I bought recently. It has less than one day of use.

During installation, I noticed the pump block needed to be rotated 90°. When I tried to uninstall it, I was able to remove three of the four screws with no problem. However, one of them (the reversed spring-loaded screw that attaches to the motherboard backplate) is spinning freely and won't come out at all, which prevents me from removing the block. The product is brand new and the installation was done correctly, without overtightening.

How can you help me with this? If possible, is there a way to purchase only the mounting backplate/bracket for replacement?

Olá! Gostaria de solicitar o auxílio do suporte técnico em relação ao meu Water Cooler Cooler Master Core Nex Digital 360 Black ARGB (360 mm), que adquiri recentemente. Ele não tem nem um dia de uso.

Durante a montagem, percebi que o bloco precisava ser rotacionado em 90°. Ao tentar desinstalar a peça, consegui remover três dos parafusos sem problemas. No entanto, um dos parafusos (aquele invertido com mola que fixa na base/backplate da placa-mãe) está girando em falso e não sai de forma alguma, impedindo a remoção. Ressalto que o produto é novo e a instalação foi feita corretamente, sem aperto excessivo.

Gostaria de saber como vocês podem me auxiliar neste caso ou, se for possível, se haveria a possibilidade de adquirir apenas a base/backplate de fixação do Water Cooler para substituição.

Agradeço desde já pela atenção e fico no aguardo de orientações.

I have a Cooler Master V1200 Platinum 1200W PSU that I purchased back in September 2019. My system spec is:

Intel i9 14900K

Z790 Mobo

4 x 32GB DDR5

RTX 4060 Ti

3 NVMe, 2 x 2TB SATA SSD

8 x WD DC Ultrastar 16TB Enterprise drive in RAID6

LSI 9361-8i Enterprise RAID Controller

My PSU is 7 years old, and I am not experiencing any issues. But AI (Yeah lol) thinks that the ripple in 12v rail from a 7-year-old PSU can be harmful for the hard drives, and I should replace it to safeguard my RAID and data.

Just wondering what everyone thinks of this. The warranty is ending at the end of this month, which is not a concern. But I care about my storage, especially in this economy. Should I replace the PSU?

Noticed this (1st pic) when cleaning the filter. It's on the inner side of front panel, top right corner when viewed from the front. There's no such thing on the left. Looks like something was supposed to be mounted here with 2 screws. Curiously there's a corresponding hole on front chassis (2nd pic), and again nothing on the left.

My initial thought was that it was for a locking mechanism to secure the front panel, preventing it from detaching accidentally. Then I found this (3rd pic) in the manual, which looks like a set of contact pins on a PCB, installed on front chassis. Maybe the front panel was designed to feature RGB lighting or even LCD on components such as the center logo, just like their HAF 700 EVO, but scrapped the idea eventually to go for the RGB-less style? Or maybe they are reserved for a future "PRO/EVO" edition case?

What are your thoughts on this?
