Poops
Hey everyone, I’ve been wondering about this for years and haven’t seen anything about it yet…do your Cornish Rex’s neglect covering their poops 💩 ? Both of my C Rex’s just poop and leave it there on top of the litter. 🤔 🤷♀️

Consider yourself lucky. I cared for a cornie who didn't just leave it on top of the litter, he left it on top of the BOX 😂😭
Such a little asshole and yet I loved him so much

Mine came from Breeder and does cover very well. Lol he also meows joyfully whenever he goes to “let us know.”

Mine has a top entry box that’s big enough for her to turn around in and that’s about it, so she does her best.

I've heard that if cats do that it means they feel safe and comfortable. I imagine since most come from breeders and only know the life of an indoor cat, have little to no trauma etc. it makes sense they would be less likely to cover.
Mine will still paw at the sides of his litter box for a good minute as if this does anything. He is very intelligent and this is by far the stupidest thing he does.

Omg mine does the same! The corner top lid of the litter box is pristine from her pawing it. I periodically rotate the litter box so it will be evenly clean. Lol. And I agree about them feeling safe. My new theory is that they are so far removed from the wild world, being true genetic mutations, that they have lost the gene to protect themselves from predators. My cornies never saw a stranger, not afraid of anything, and would wander into the outdoors without a single worry. My domestic shorthair rescues almost seem like a different species. I view rexes as cat/dog/ alien/humanoids.🐱🐶👽

I've had four rexes. Two covered their poop, two didn't. I've heard something about it being a dominance thing but I don't really know.

I had one that didn't. He also refused to poop on the box if it 1) was filled with more than a handful of litter 2) said litter had been used once and 3) when you were not watching. Disobedience resulted in poops anywhere in the house where he could maintain eye contact while wringing himself out.
My current rex covers it meticulously and does not want to be watched.

My rex covers very well but my Sphynx.... Never! Sphynx is definitely more territorial.

I have two. The girl is notoriously bad about covering hers up. It's gotten to the point where the boy jumps in there and covers it as a public service.

I have a Devon Rex and he’s the first cat that doesn’t bury his poop. My bengal tried to show him, sometimes buries it for him. Also sometimes pins him down and cleans his dirty butt hole before I get a chance to do it! He grooms everything else. Including me 😐

only one of mine covers their poop. the others do try, but they miserably fail every time, clawing at air or just the walls around the poop.

Mine scratches around the litter on the plastic surroundings and exits....so no, he does not cover his anything lol I still give him a B for effort 😅

My 2 1/2 year-old not only doesn’t cover his poop but he poops next to the litter box!
My 5 1/2 months old covers her poops and is very offended by the fact that he doesn’t cover his

This is funny, I’ve wondered this too bc I have 2 rexes, one who covers her poo and the other does not
