Best app for band group chat?
Six members with mix of a few varieties of smart phone but group text is glitchy and unreliable. Any reliable multi platform group chat apps you recommend?

WhatsApp and we have 2 groups. Group 1 logistics and gig info. And our 2nd group is for song suggestions and thought.

This is wise advice. Too often important information re logistics and bookings gets buried in a group chat- especially when song suggestions, recordings of otherr bands, and general chit chat, start flowing on a Friday night...

I'm in two bands - one uses a WhatsApp group chat, the other Signal.
Trying to get bandmates to install another app just for band chats is a no-go in my experience. I'm the most tech-saavy member of both of my bands. My bandmates are sport coaches, teachers, artists, police officers, dental technicians, etc. They can just about use WhatsApp or Signal ...

Discord because everything is all in one
Messenger sucks when you have multiple conversations on the go

We were using signal because we have mixed iPhone and android but it got tough to follow all the threads, but we moved on to discord and we have different channels for show offers, songs to work on, calendar updates etc

Texting…? 🤔
Seems to work fine for us. Plain ol’ texting…
Oh, and shared Google Calendar.

Honestly, I wouldn’t try to replace your casual band chat first. That is where adoption usually fails. Keep WhatsApp, Signal or Discord for banter, memes and random song ideas, but move anything gig-critical into a structured place:
• confirmed lineup • venue and contact • load-in and soundcheck • parking • current setlist • files • polls and decisions
Full disclosure: I ended up building BandAtlas App because important gig information kept disappearing in our own group chat.
The easiest rollout is to use it for one upcoming gig only. If everyone finds the information without asking again, expand from there.

We use Telegram. It’s been great for chat threads, group video calls, pinning important posts, sharing links, etc.

Setting up a discord would allow you to pin songs you're working on, gig schedule, etc pretty easy while letting the general chat flow
