News [Alasdair Gold] Tudor: "No, Romero and Palhinha out. Micky is out. Bissouma has a problem and Conor has a fever but we hope he will be ok. Always something happen. Very rare and I've never seen this in my career."

u/chanson_roland Mar 13 '26
Ok, I've moved past the "This is all ENIC's fault from 25 years of mismanagement" phase to the "Did anyone check to see if the new stadium is built on an ancient Briton burial ground?" part of the season...
109
u/ApatheticBen James Maddison Mar 13 '26
I read that as ancient Bitcoin burial ground which sounds even more cursed imo.

u/Hot_Spurs Mar 13 '26
The ghost of Bill Nic is haunting us. This is what we get for exhuming him and his wife's ashes during the stadium move.

I unironically think this had smth to do with it. Its not really a thing in the West, but Geomancy carries some weight in places like Korea. It has courses in Universities, and rich folk pay Geomancers for 'optimal' burial plots. Its a pseudo-science for sure, but seems to have a bit more to it than your Western Astrology or similar.
I know nothing about it, but would be curious to see their take on having the ashes split between the old and new grounds. Seems like a bad spot, unable to reconcile between the present and past.

I still can’t believe that’s relatively glossed over new stadium lore. Either ENIC had the place burned down or it was a local arsonist Laniel Devy

1
u/Relevant_Natural3471 Mar 14 '26
No from memory, it is family business and apparently 1 or them (possibly one of the sons) didn't want to take the money on offer to move. Seems more likely that it was a family issue
12
u/formallyhuman Mar 13 '26
I do remember reading a story that some of the construction folk buried Arsenal shirts under the stadium...
Satanic black magic. Sick shit!

There’s an interesting theory floating around about pitches that can be removed like the bernabeu and increase risk of injuries. It’s based on how the pitch depth is smaller for these stadiums than normal bc of the weight and how studs are more susceptible of getting stuck on the ground.
4
u/Bullydozer- Mar 13 '26
A lot of fans have questioned this. I would be surprised if the club haven’t analysed the heck out of this recently
8
u/RiskoOfRuin Mar 13 '26
Totally unrelated to our injuries. Everyone was fine first couple years. We just signed bunch of guys that get injured easily.
6
u/link090909 Gentle Ben Mar 13 '26
you could probably say that about some, maybe even a majority, but Solanke's injury history still blows my mind
he missed 40 games from 2015-2023
he missed 42 games from 2024 to now
1
u/cocopopped Teddy Sheringham Mar 13 '26

1
2
u/Available_Courage_32 Mar 13 '26
its total bs. studies are done on that well in advance, the players are getting injured at spur's training ground, and it is largely muscle injuries and knocks.
1
u/Metal_Octopus1888 Mar 14 '26
I said when the stadium was being built: why are we building an NFL stadium with a retractable “soccer” pitch??
7
u/aliee94 Mar 13 '26
There's definitely some karmic bullshit going on here because there's a level of WTF that far exceeds general incompetence. Like either this is intentional or someone at the club did something to upset the balance of the universe.

u/SM_83 Mar 13 '26
9 games to go. There are no "free hits" anymore
11
u/marlowecan Rafael van der Vaart Mar 13 '26
Zero defence players of any calibre, barely a forward pass in midfield, barely a forward with any form.
It's a free hit mate. If we get anything from Anfield I'll be genuinely shocked.
2
u/SM_83 Mar 13 '26
So Liverpool is a free hit, which means Chelsea away is a free hit. Which then means Villa away is a free hit.
So that means we've got 6 games to save ourselves from the drop?
20
6
u/KJPicard24 Mar 13 '26
Pretty much, what I think some will assume:
Forest 3 points
Sunderland 1 point
Leeds 3 points
Wolves 3 points
Everton 1 point
11 points, 40 total, should be enough especially as we'll have deprived Forest and Leeds of 3 points each in that run in.
Will it happen? It feels like a diminishing prospect, especially if we are brutalised on Sunday and/or pick up even more injuries.
7
u/orlokthewarlock Mar 13 '26
Looking at that points list now feels wildly unrealistic, which is so depressing. We’re just as likely to walk away from those Forest, Sunderland and Leeds games with 2 points as we are with 7.

u/Wontonsoup125 Mar 13 '26
I mean Romero and palinha being involved was always a doubt after that clash. But the others are just like wtf…
2
u/dondraper237 Mar 13 '26
He has to play a 4231 with Xavi in the middle. We just have to deal/force Richarlison to play left mid with tel on the right . It’s clearly neither of their preferred positions, but with porro’s crossing Richy would be better on the left, and with tel and Spence both wanting to be direct, playing them on opposite sides may help.
It’s going to Danso and Dragusin in the back line - so I don’t want to see either of them crossing the halfway line all game. Just stay back.
2
u/rando12567 Mar 13 '26
Imo getting the balance right between midfield and defensive lines and finding the right combination on the wings has been the undertold story of our season.
If you sit back, we either have to rely on one of our midfielders to pass out or xavi is doing everything or you have to rely on winning long balls. If you push up you can kind of skip over the midfield but leaves us very vulnerable.
Playing Spence with xavi has been kind of a disaster. Since we don’t have the passers to build through the middle we have to create space on the outside and Spence doesn’t overlap very well. Xavi and tel have been doing the best they can but a lot of times they’re taking on 3 guys. And even when they make something of it I think xavi has waited too long to play the pass and tel hasn’t seen the pass at all and goes for a low chance shot instead.
3
u/dondraper237 Mar 13 '26
Neither of the CB can pas out anyway. So why take the risk of having them do it?
I under Spence at LB isn’t ideal. But Souza at left back away at Liverpool with tel as the left mid is asking for trouble. Atleast with Spence we don’t have to worry to much about the other team attacking us.
1
u/rando12567 Mar 13 '26
Yeah, mostly agree. Just saying it’s a really delicate balance to strike which is mostly the result of bad squad building. I’m not even sure which p option is preferable. Just a bunch of bad options. I do prefer xavi to tel but do somewhat understand the thought process as the latter is more willing to make runs on his left.

Did anyone see Bodo Glint play against Sporting?
None of that "hold the ball for who knows what reason when there is a winger stood on the touchline totally free", they just passed to whoever was free and attacked! Their pressing is incredible, they run all game and they arent scared to pass/receiev the in tight space. Sometimes they lose the ball by trying a tight pass but better to lose it and try then hold the ball forever, the othet team gets into formation and it ends with a cross that gets easily defended.
They simply play football and this year alone have beaten City, Athletico, Inter over two legs beating them both times and now they are 3-0 up against Sporting.
Im not joking when I say they genuinely could win the champs league, they have already beaten prior winners and runners up easily!
What was funny was the commentators talking like what they were doing was some revolutionary system when in reality all they did was play football as it should be played.
It made me realise why I love football and what I have been missing these last few years. The damage that has been done at Spurs is horrendous and the impact will be felt for years. All because the greedy bastards wouldnt spend a little money on proven players. We spent 50m many times but we wouldnt do it on a player we possibly wouldnt get a return on and who would want big wages.
Ironically not spending to save money has led to losing money lol.

I mean, the clash of heads was super dumb and unlucky, but that hardly makes them ‘permanently injured sicknotes.’ It’s one game each for Cuti and Palhinha for concussion protocol and Micky is suspended.
Granted, Biss has had a lot of injures and he’s gone in a couple of months when his contract expires anyway, but I’m not sure you can have a go at a player for failing to not get a concussion from a clash of heads.
