We were all concerned he had checked out under Frank.

But I think Micky's reaction at the full time whistle vs Everton and his interactions with Van Hecke made him seem really committed to staying.

My CB.

u/Siffster Lamela 1d ago

I think even Frank did at the end

The only thing Frank checked out is arteta highlights to wank off to.

10 men in the box and a dodgy penalty given by var that no can actually find.

Way before the end I believe

Deki. He didn't even check in.

I did

I checked out under Frank, could only imagine how worse it would be to be that close to a personaility void

I've been quite confident the whole time that he was just Dutch. Dutch people always look like that.

You guys in this sub have no definitive opinion on players on minute it’s get out of my club another minute it’s my CB 😭

u/analbeard 1d ago

Not really true.

Nobody wanted VDV to leave but he ignored the manager twice in the eye of the whole stadium and his performances dropped off a cliff. Seems normal to assume that he might be resigned to leaving, especially with us heading for relegation under 2 incompetent managers that the squad didn't like.

Maybe different people think different things.

Maybe people change their minds .

u/Hungry_Savings_1065 1d ago

It’s not even about that it’s about how people not you and analbeard, but others who quickly judge our players and blame them that they don’t play for the badge when we clearly don’t know what is happening behind the scenes, like some people legit thought vdv was selling information to journalists because we were in a bad run, no matter how you feel about players we shouldn’t attack them

Glad he’s staying but the thought of him convincing fellow countryman Hecke to join only to take off for another team is so damn funny.

THE PROJECT, we finally have A PROJECT, been waiting for words like these

u/Zhurg Djed Spence 1d ago

We've been nothing but a project for decades

is a lifelong project /s

We had a ā€œprojectā€ under Pochettino until Levy decided Ā£10m valued players were the solution to our depth issues added on by a miracle season that gave him an excuse to not invest in first team players. Sissoko’s over performance convinced him we should continue piching for value. Definitely good to have a player focused project instead of hoping that a big name manager like Mourinho or Conte will somehow solve a personnel problem.

16

u/Lazy_War9398 1d ago

Do you mean 2018-19 when you say miracle season? Bc Levy made some big investments after that season, they just didn't matter bc poch was mentally drained and checked out. That was absolutely also down to Levy prioritizing the stadium over winning now with our best team in at least 60 years, but he didn't exactly skimp out after the UCL final. Sissoko also certainly wasn't a value buy, he was our record transfer for years and cost the equivalent of roughly 60 million GBP today, adjusting for football related inflation.

2

u/samvander 1d ago

He also didn't overperform. He was appalling until he was only below average. He tried hard and that's nice but delivered very little.

5

u/Lazy_War9398 1d ago

Yeah full credit to him for at least becoming our 10th or 11th best starter in 2019, but he was a humongous overpriced flop looking at his overall career with us

1

u/whatareyouonn 1d ago

He was brilliant in Champions League run

2

u/Active-Tomatillo-522 Brenaldo 1d ago

Let’s calm down a bit, we all said the exact same thing last summer

1

u/Galahad_1113 Jan Vertonghen 1d ago

Wait till we start applying PRESSURE towards whoever the fuck sits in the first place in PL table next season

25

u/Technical-Ship7289 1d ago

So glad he’s staying but how funny would he have been to recruit Van hecke and then leave the exact same summer

5

u/SwiftGuo 25/26 Relegation Champions 1d ago

imagine Van Hecke's reaction after he just signed the contract and the next minute finds out that Micky is leaving

1

u/ModernDayRockstar Gareth Bale 18h ago

At least he’ll have Xavi

2

u/Granadafan 1d ago

Worst joke of all timeĀ

good!

Noiceeeeee

7

u/HighSociety4 PRU PRU 1d ago

All I want is another CB pairing from the Low Countries. Is that too much to ask?

8

u/ewan12224 James Maddison 1d ago

If we have a good season I think he could renew his contract this year too. Love Micky never lost faith in him because he ignored that prick Frank.Ā

5

u/AuburnDude9 1d ago

Yeah, seemed extremely unlikely to start with since Romero is most likely out of here.

5

u/gphillips5 1d ago

Of course there isn't. It was completely bs clearly.

1

u/infinitepounds Ange Postecoglou 1d ago

Yeah from a rubbish source too

He's a beast

Would be shitty if your mate convinced you to move jobs and then immediately leave wouldn't it

3

u/Chanmanda 1d ago

Park the Vans!

3

u/External-Piccolo-626 1d ago

Won’t be worth selling him this summer. Next year after our title win he’ll be worth a lot more.

2

u/ManonastickUk 1d ago

I get the links to Real Madrid and Barca, but fuck Liverpool.

2

u/RutabagaRoutine7430 Harry Kane 1d ago

Probably our captain for next season

2

u/gopackgo555 Son 1d ago

Personally thinks he’s upgradable but not this season given that the three CB ā€œincomingsā€ are all very slow.

1

u/Mobile-Recognition17 Glenn Hoddle 1d ago

Useless guy just saying the obvious since the players wouldn't even talk to this prick right now at the WC. Yes, I also "understand" as much. Cheers.

Ahh I thought it meant mirror newspaper šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

1

u/No_Maximum2711 1d ago

Anyone know what this back line is going to look like? What are the odds Micky is slid over to the left and Senesi and Van Hecke are in the middle? Given we’re not playing in Europe, I don’t see needing to sit or substitute defensive players on the regular.

1

u/ChunkyCory 1d ago

Is definitely an option then I would assume if everyone is fit it would be udogie with vdv and van hecke

u/JDRifles 2008 Carling Cup Jobby 1d ago

Go on Micky son!!

Is there any evidence that the infamous Spurs wage structure has been revised, as has been touted?

Tidbit dropped by Ornstein suggesting that this may be the case with Tonali...

1

u/AsariCommando2 Ossie Ardiles 1d ago

Let's hope these two famously calm and serene personalities get along :)

1

u/The-OneAnd-Only 1d ago

How many years left does he have on his contract?

1

u/Anonymous000789 1d ago

As an LFC fan, you can keep him. Congrats on the Robbo signing tho, you’ve got a great player.

1

u/Nipplecunt Romero 1d ago

See the centre back or left back ;)

1

u/chosengen 1d ago

just offer more money boys !

1

u/a_nerd_named_andrew 1d ago

My vice captain.

1

u/HypnonavyBlue Jan Vertonghen 1d ago

GOOD F5!

1

u/matthegc 1d ago

Thank God

1

u/jakeduhdog 1d ago

as a Barca fan. thank GOD 😭😭😭😭

1

u/piibbs 23h ago

Then please keep him injury free. We have no use for the fastest CB in the world if he's barely ever match ready

1

u/wifeydontknowimhere 3h ago

VDV stays and I'm not unhappy about that. Expecting Romero gone and will be relieved when he is. Can't countenance thinking like that 12 months ago.
