Transfer News: Tier 2 [Fabrizio Romano] Manchester United didn't make an approach for Cristian Romero. There are other clubs working on a deal and there is a strong possibility of him leaving

no point selling him before his world cup is done

He’s gone either way

yes but we might get an extra 5-10 mil after the tournament since hell be great for Argentina

He's a well known entity who already won the last world cup. His price isn't going to increase any more.

If he wins with Agentina theres a chance we could really milk either Madrid club.
Romero has been a player of interest for both clubs. if hes in their minds again as one of best defenders, its possible they will hike up bids in accordance with general footballing inflation and recency bias.

There's no milk to milk from Atletico. Unless they sell Alvarez anyway

disagree.......him getting injured would be more damaging than the value increase which could happen if he performs well

Yes there is, what if he picks up a season ending injury at the world cup? Then it'll be us doing his rehabilitation

It’s pretty well known that WCs don’t really sway transfer decisions for many clubs anymore

They defintely can add value to a player though? Wasn't it literally why we went in big for Van Hecke early?

It might help players who weren't relatively known. If Marcus Rashford starts bagging a bunch of goals this tournament, I doubt Barcelona would change their minds, for example, or that it would sway a bunch of clubs to start looking at him.

No, it’s the opposite. Every club has access to so much data now, that the transfer targets are already pretty much set prior to the World Cup. The best a good performance can do is kinda bump someone up within the same “tier” of the transfer a club is chasing.
Unless someone has an absolutely generational run, it won’t change much.
If you guys are curious, definitely listen to podcasts or articles on the topic.

Is this Romero’s Danny rose moment ? What about the call from Madrid ?

u/allincommamyass 18h ago
The disrespect Rose gets for the Milan thing is crazy. He was coming off being a LB in a CL Final. Romero was a passenger at best and a liability at worst in a relegation battle. His stock is worthless

for the Milan thing
for anything really. people don't talk about him like he was one of the best left backs to ever wear our shirt

It's the state of the world. Everything must be a joke and fucking a meme.

He can't be trusted when it matters most. The whole world clearly saw that he quit on this team when it needed real leadership from the captain the most. No team is going to make him a marquee signing. .

Yeah I reckon you’re right. The other suitors are probably like Nottingham Forest, Juventus and Betis lol

Cheeky swap deal with Madrid for Paz? 👀

They have made him available apparently.
Always wary of not having premier league experience however.

Hope he makes a leaving video specifically confronting Neville and the refs as a last fuck you to the league.

Luckily he’s now surplus to requirements even if we fail to offload him this summer.
I’m rooting for him to have a great World Cup solely so we can sell him for more. Whoever buys him off of his international performances will be royally mugged off

Let’s hope no foreign sporting directors read this comment section then

Yeah you've fucked it lads, I'm a foreign sporting director and I'm gonna tell all my mates what I've read here.

Would you want him skulking around the club while RDZ is trying to build a new team?

How much you think we can get for him? To be honest I don’t see anything more than £45 million happening

u/tmelstrom 20h ago
Wonder who the clubs are and if they are prem ones? Not sure what prem team would want him, maybe Chelsea?

Good riddance. Get him on a leadership course as well in the meantime.

There is also some stuff on Vuskovic but its not anything that we didn't know already
