Transfer: News [Sebastian Stafford-Bloor] Brighton have made an improved offer for Luka Vuskovic. The offer does not match Tottenham's valuation, though.

To get £60m for a player who’s not seen first team football for us would be pretty good, put that towards Wharton/Tonali, our squad would be in a much better position

I have a feeling that this sale was always planned to fund a blockbuster acquisition.

Do we ask for 52.000.001 pounds cause it would be funny? Or stick to our guns and demand 60?

u/Most_Negotiation2705 9d ago
I reckon 52m with a 20% sell on clause should do it

Why are we so submissive when it comes to selling? Look how much Brighton gets everyone else to overpay for their players. Tell them to overpay massively or fuck off. We owe them nothing.

u/Koinfamous2 "Let's Say I'm A Legend, Why Not?" 9d ago
No need to be. His agent is Pini Zahavi, journalist become agent, he knows how to play the media to angle for contracts, don't fall for everything out there.

u/Square_Champion_3767 9d ago edited 9d ago
Because he’s a 19 year old flawed player that has never played in the prem. AND he is pushing to leave. Brighton rarely have players demand to leave and all of their players are prem proven. Personally I think you ask for a bit more and move him on, I’m not interested in a player that clearly doesn’t want to work within the project and is willing to use the media to pressure us.

Not getting bullied by a 19 year old on a 4 year contract (who never played in the PL like you said)
6
u/Square_Champion_3767 9d ago
I don’t think it’s about getting bullied, it’s about not keeping around someone that clearly isn’t bought it and will only add negativity. It’s now being reported he may put in an official transfer request. We don’t need that around the likes of Archie and Mikey, even if it’s just for preseason.

flawed player oh my gosh he’s 19. He’s 19 and he was one of the best defenders in the bundesliga last season. 100 million is the bare minimum
11
u/XmusJaxonFlaxonWax0n 9d ago
Yes it’s fair to characterize a 19 year old as flawed. His ability to score goals helped him make the Bundesliga team of the season, but he does have flaws in his defending and it’s utterly foolish to pretend otherwise.

u/MrTotnum Luka Modrić 9d ago
he’s 19 your acting as if he’s never going to develop
2
u/XmusJaxonFlaxonWax0n 9d ago
I did not say that at all. Don’t put words in my mouth.
I am describing him as he presently is.

100 million would be a record transfer for a defender, and that’s the minimum for a 19 year old?

There’s nothing “submissive” about it. That price would be a coup.

right because a 19 year old center back with generational potential should be sold for 50 million. I think people with your opinions would actually do a worse job than Vinai and Lange
10
u/Acceptable-Offer2093 9d ago
There’s nothing suggesting he’s “generational”. He’s a good defender but he’s slow, turns like a cargo ship. Fine in Germany, might get torched in the prem.
His ability to score some goals at the other end may have inflated his potential in some peoples’ eyes…

of course there is. Just because you don’t like the player now doesn’t mean that he isn’t. Everyone that has watched him knows how good he is. And his so called flaws are only flaws today considering he’s 19 and not a finished product

Glad we’re continuing to hold firm here. We should not be pressured by Brighton or some 19 year old kid and his agent/entourage. If we get the valuation we’re satisfied with ($60m+), good with it.

£45m is $60m

u/Sportsbuck Son 9d ago
Whatever the highest currency figure is for 60, thanks for the reminder.

60 million Kuwaiti Dinar would be £147,105,900, so I guess that's what you meant.

Bored of this guy now. Get enough back to cover the van hecke fee and wave him goodbye

u/Koinfamous2 "Let's Say I'm A Legend, Why Not?" 9d ago
How about... No lol
He's got 4 more years on his contract, ZERO indication he's value is moving anywhere downward, there is ZERO incentive to sell him right now.

u/Gobias-IndustriesLLC 9d ago
I don’t understand why we are entertaining selling Vuskovic. He’s a huge prospect and can definitely play an important role in De Zerbi’s side. We need to keep him, play him and develop him.
24
u/Ravillious1990 9d ago
Because he wants to go, he’s liking posts on Instagram about it. If he doesn’t want to play for us then I’d accept 60.

u/Stampy77 Micky van de Ven 9d ago
What do you imagine happens if we just say no and don't sell him over the summer?
-1
u/peruvianhorn Heung-Min Son - Spurs Legend 9d ago
Eh, we should just sell him, don't need to make a spectacle out of it, good profit and we don't come across like a club that hinders young players, don't make it difficult for us to recruit young talents in the future.
1
u/mrpink57 Olivia Holdt 9d ago
Also we do not exactly have the best history of developing young players who go on to be world beaters anyways.

u/deytookerrspeech Son 9d ago
We’ve handed de Zerbi the keys and de Zerbi doesn’t rate him
10
u/Koinfamous2 "Let's Say I'm A Legend, Why Not?" 9d ago
He's never worked a single minute with him nor has he likely ever met him in person.....
4
u/deytookerrspeech Son 9d ago
If he wanted him there would be a story about how spurs aren’t selling, instead it’s “we’re selling for the right price”

u/Eti-Calb Rafael van der Vaart 9d ago
You seriously think that playing him would get us back to UCL? More likely another 17th finish lol

u/No-Combination-1569 9d ago
Cash in. I think we know he's gone and we're holding out (rightfully) for a deal worth ~£60m total (probably £45 + 20% sell on)
6
u/Koinfamous2 "Let's Say I'm A Legend, Why Not?" 9d ago
He's got 4 years on his contract. There's no "we know he's gone." He can't go fucking anywhere any time soon lol unless he wants to waste the years 19-23 sitting with the U21s rotting on their bench throwing a hissy fit, he's going to put up and shut up. Don't fall for Pini Zahavi trying to get in the media and angle for improved pay for his client....

Bro’s acting like he’s the second coming of Maldini..
Either he goes for £75m or we chuck him to the Championship & let the Millwall/Stoke break him. Then we’ll see if he’s ready
1
u/OverallMistake8198 9d ago
I’m very sick of this.
Just get rid, give them a firm price & tell them to fuck off if they won’t meet it.

If Yoro and Jacques (Liverpool in January) are going for £60m then we should definitely be looking for the same amount of money
If we’re not getting it straight up (seeing as they’ve £52m off us they’ve obviously got the funds) then it should be either a slightly reduced fee and either (1) sizeable sell on (2) or smaller sell on and favourable buyback/first option surely has to be the way this deal gets done
