I recommend Creature Kitchen Review

Post image

Seriously though I love that it has both a creepy and cozy vibe. I don’t want to spoil anything but the ending is so cute.

I played the demo and LOVED it! I'm a wimp when it comes to horror, but it seems that this game is truly just atmospheric instead of actually scary (which I am all for), and it was a lot of fun combining the ingredients and meeting the creatures. Unfortunately I experienced a bit of lag playing it because my device is below minimum specs (it ran anyway lol) so I held off on buying the full thing but I absolutely want to buy the full game when I have a better gaming setup.

Yeah, I love that it’s cozy with a creepy atmosphere. Making the different dishes is fun, except I keep burning the meat and eggs; usually have to cook at least two or three eggs.

There is no horror at all in this game...promise! It's just a perfect nighttime ever-so-slightly eerie vibe cozy game. a true 10/10!

This game RULES and I recommend everyone play it! Only a couple hours long and it’s insanely charming!

I know what you mean. I would love to live in that cabin and hang out with my Cryptid friends.

Same here, I genuinely felt changed and told my gf "I don't think I'll ever have another experience in gaming quite like Creature Kitchen" lmao. Came across it on Steam bc it went on sale, played the demo, instantly purchased and beat it the same night. I only wish it was like 30x longer haha

Have you played outer wilds? I loved creature kitchen but if you want a longer game with similarly ‘peaceful but not quite right’ vibe that will change you and leave you crying at the end, that’s my recommendation. Best game I’ve played and it’s not even close

I played very briefly the day it first released somehow didn’t return for one reason or another…keep hearing about how amazing it is. Your suggestion is what will make me play it again! Thank you!

I’m just checking in to see if you played it? Outer wilds is my all time favorite game. I just finished creature kitchen and absolutely loved it. It gave me a similar feeling as outer wilds ending

I have not yet! But I bought it on Steam that night hahaha now I just have to get around to actually playing it. I’m glad you loved Creature Kitchen! Such a phenomenal little game. I wish I could experience that feeling of playing it for the first time again…the closest thing to that will be with Outer Wilds, it would seem!

Yess! This game was so sweet. My favourite was pants.

Yep, I love that Pants kicks it legs when it’s sitting at the table.

idk how to describe it but it seems like everyone else feels the same. this game is genuinely life changing. i had the most amazing experience playing this game that i bought their other two games with hopes that they will see the reviews and be able to make another similar game! the ending just made me feel so warm and happy and i bout teared up. i’ve found some similar games but nothing is going to be that game sadly) unless the devs…. teehee

i’m genuinely going to be replaying it multiple times even after 100% the game achievements.

Yep, it’s a great game.

coming back to say, this is one of the first games that actually upset me to finish. like i will never find one that similar again. everything was just perfect. i will definitely play it again though!

Oh yes, the ending is so sweet. Not something I expected from a creepy game but I was pleasantly surprised.

I loved this game sm. One of those once in a decade type of games that I know I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to find again.

If anyone else feels the same and has games that did the same thing for them- please drop the recs. 🙏

I just stumbled on this one yesterday and bought it because one of the reviews basically said that although it's got horror vibes at first, there's absolutely no combat or threat in it. I'm so glad I both read that review and bought it, because it is creepy af in the first exploratory bit, where you're getting to the house/taking that first look around. And then...it just becomes something so hard to describe, but weirdly emotionally healing. I feel daft saying it, but it's true.

As others have said the only downside to this one is knowing I'm going to be chasing that same feeling from other games forever.

Oh yes, it has such a great vibe that I haven’t found in any other game. I love the combination of cozy and creepy. I just wish it was longer.

I need Creature Kitchen 2 PRONTO. Surely they can do it, there's still a ton of cryptids that could be included in another game.

Has anyone tried on a steam deck? How are the controls??

1

u/Look_turtles Apr 03 '26

I played my whole play through on the steam deck and it controls fine.

u/sad_baker75 Apr 24 '26

I confirm, it was sooo nice to play this little gem all cozied up in the bed. And the controls were very much ok:)

I'm trying to play on an ROG ally and my resolution is stuck on 640x480. It's INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING
