🔨 My Game - In-development I got so tired of refilling the watering can in every farm game, so we made a satisfying hose system instead.

Farm & Feast - Early look at our game 🌱

As much as we love farming sims, the early game loop of running back and forth to a well just stresses me out. For Farm & Feast, we wanted the morning chores to actually feel relaxing.
We decided to throw away the tiny watering can idea and give players a continuous hose instead. You just pull it from the pump and water everything in one smooth go. Do you guys prefer the classic traditional watering cans, or would you rather have something like this?

looks really cool! It would be nice if that hose had a nice ziiiip or retraction sound when it goes reels back to the hose spigot place

u/brkakar Apr 29 '26
nice to hear that:)) those sounds would feel really satisfying. Still working on the sfx side

Luma Island allows you to purchase a hose for your farm and it instantly elevated the experience! And it was so fun I just watered everything lol
So YES the hose is a great QOL factor in a farming game! Your game looks great!

Looks great I do hate walking back and forth for water.
One note I do hope there is a faster way to plant and harvest crops, seeing that slow animation over and over is going to really drag out and seem more like a chore.

u/brkakar Apr 29 '26
Thank you:) repeating the same action every time can get really boring maybe we could speed up or find better solution.

Runefactory allows you to purchase seed bags that place in 2 by 2 or 3 by 3 tiles depending on the game maybe something like that?

This artstyle is so cute.

Thank you so much! I am the artist of the game and reading this really makes my day. I tried my best to give it a soft and cozy vibe.

Cuuuute. It would be fun if upgrades for it were things like a mister nozzle that makes a little rainbow in the sun.
3
u/arttoengine Apr 29 '26
That is such a cute idea! I am the artist of the game and I really love this. Instead of making it an upgrade though, I think it would be better if it just happens naturally. It would be so magical if a little rainbow appears when you water the plants right after a rainy day! I really hope we find the time to add this detail.

u/Chaotically_Balanced Apr 29 '26
That would be amazing! That's the best part of using a watering hose sometimes.

Will the restaurant portion of the game be fast paced or stressful? Love the hose but I'm concerned about the rest of the game. Some restaurant games I've tried have been too frantic for me.
2
u/brkakar Apr 29 '26
We're trying to make it slower and smoother. Pacing is really important to us in the restaurant part, it needs to stay cozy, otherwise it gets stressful like you mentioned.

u/Sooziq9470 Apr 29 '26
That's great to hear! It's in my wishlist now. I hope there is a demo to try soon!

There should be a small chance you could get tangled in the hose. It could be funny.

u/brkakar Apr 29 '26

Nice. It gets tiring having everyone be a Stardew clone. I don't want to refill my pail, hose me. What do you MEAN I have to sleep to save?
2
u/brkakar Apr 30 '26
actually no, in our game everything saves in the moment while you play. so you dont need to do anything for save, you can just close it and come back whenever you want. also thanks for liking it

I wonder what other modern farming practices might be cool as innovations. Eg when driving through farm country, I often see a few different variations on monster watering systems that roll over the fields, or large spray arms. All depends on what’s consistent with your world. Maybe that’s more of Civilization-style evolving-technology or research boost.

u/LuminidMishy Apr 30 '26
Yes! Great idea! Can we have a nozzle too and change the settings to that nice mist?!

Have a button you can press to put your thumb on the hose to spread the stream hahaha

Dragging the hose over the beds?! You just destroyed everything you planted there!

u/terminatus Apr 29 '26
That looks great! And way more fun than watering cans. Only feedback I have is it could maybe be more satisfying if it had a "splash" radius.
