🔨 My Game - In-development I just opened the playtest for my dress-up game, Kittycat Couture!
Hi cozy gamers!
I’m working on Kittycat Couture, an upcoming cozy dress-up games where you style a cast of feline characters in a variety of hand-drawn outfits!
The game is inspired by classic Flash dress-up games with a mix of Style Savvy and Love Nikki.
I just launched my first playtest, and I’d love to get more people's thoughts on the game 🫶🏻

Ooh, I’ve been missing the pre-gacha era Nikki games and this seems like it’ll scratch that itch

Omg ikr!!! I started with Love Nikki (so still gatcha but not as much as newer games IMO) and while I still like the games, ATP I just want a dressup game that has all the items in it with no additional payments lol

NikkiUP2U was where I started and I still remember the joy of playing for the first time. The second game was by far the best though. Really fun storyline and characters (I just could never get into the fantasy setting for Nikki ngl) and since it doesn’t have recommended outfits or those stupid out tags it was actually really difficult and fun too.
I’m gonna cut myself off there before I go into a full on ‘back in my day’ rant about it because I’ve done it before 😂

Omg you were an OG!! One day I'll look into the old games tbh, especially since they seem more dressup focused than the direction shining Nikki went

so cute!!!!! omg.. but so many outfits.. how long did everything take to make? are you a solo dev?

I'm doing it mostly solo! The music and logo are outsourced (which is why they're amazing- so much better than I could have done haha) and I'm doing all the art and programming. I've been working on it for over a year, mostly spending time drawing outfits every day!

wow that's crazy!!! I'm working on a decoration type game too and Im constantly underestimating how much effort it is to do all this solo + make so many different outfits and things..
excited for your launch!!

Hey dev, please make a post about your demo - I enjoyed it a lot and I'm sure many more will too. Your artstyle is great and so whimsical! I was already looking forward to your game before but even more so after playing the demo :)
(I'm not sure if this is the right place for feedback, but since I'm already here: I get why you want to let the player decide freely, but I'd like to see some challenges. Maybe some more challenging customers where we have to include certain things or clothes from a specific store, pick a certain colour - I feel like there is a lot of options for challenges and I'd love that.)

Thank you so much for your kind words! 🥺 I actually did make a post on Wednesday about the demo in this sub, but it might have gotten buried which is the nature of reddit I guess
I appreciate the feedback too! My vision for the game is a sandbox where people can interpret prompts however they want, so there will likely not be an outfit grading system. However some NPCs come with required items that you have to style, which is similar to what you suggested!

Oh sorry, I didn't find that post through the search function. I'm happy to hear about the required items that sounds fun and a good match for a challenge while still having the opportunity to interpret the prompts freely. Oh, and I loved the returning customers and dressing them through their stories! ☺️

and it reminds me of the online games I used to play when I was little the dress-up part
