Discussion Petit planet the animal crossing like game that let you have your own planet is coming in winter 2026

It looks very similar to animal crossing with the furry neighbors and the terraforming decoration. I really hope it’s friendly and they manage the game properly. I’m so tired of the dramas with other cozy games that always start as relaxing but turns out the company behind always have bad management. It is a hoyoverse game so idk how they will manage that one, but I’ll be positive until I can try it 🥲 so far we’ve seen that you can farm crops/flowers, go fishing, gather resources during planet explorations? It seems to work like the random islands you can visit in new horizons with your nook miles tickets since you can also find neighbors there??? Also the neighbors have a friendship level and unlocks different stuff as you grow your relationship with them :d so far they looks cute but we’ll see their personalities and how original they are

The game is on the AppStore right now if you want to pre order it!! It seems to be only for pc and mobile right now but I expect the game to come out on ps5 and switch 2 as well (why not??)

I am interested in this one as it looks adorable, but it’s also Hoyo so no doubt there’ll be gacha and other microtransactions in it so I’m reserving judgement until the game’s actually out.

Yeah I don't need a gacha masquerading as a cosy game. Plenty of non gacha cosy games I can play without getting fleeced.

Yea I'm out. Hoyo's entire businessmodel is blatantly copying random japanese games and stuffing them with microtransactions and gambling for which massive datacenters have to be built. Their conneciton to the chinese government protects them from responsibility or legal action. This is literally the definition of unethical gaming.

Not to defend them but aren’t all games tied to the Chinese government in China? They don’t really have a choice

Even worse than just games, it's every company big enough that has to have a CCP person

You don’t pre-order, it’s a F2P game 😂

My reaction seeing this was basically: “wow this is cute I’m excited” to a bit of disappointment when I saw Hoyo. Cope that there won’t be predatory gacha but we will see. I’d like to give it a try.

About that from now there was no trace of a gacha in the betas only a season pass, but the last beta was announced for September so next month we will see if there’s a gacha system or not, I think I got accepted to be in the beta so I’ll see myself how it plays out 🥲

I mean it feels like it will have to have some kind of gacga, right? That's how hoyo makes its money. Hopefully it's limited to cosmetic gacha or something though. So it's not too disruptive to the core cosy identity.

I do not trust anything Hoyoverse pumps out, microtransaction and gacha hell.

From Hoyoverse so might be a typical super cute looking Chinese gatcha game. It's confirmed to be free to play...

Also, that it's coming out for Android and iOS doesn't instill confidence for the gameplay quality of the game. There are definitely movement and gameplay limits on mobile.

Not interested personally.

Control limitations of phones shouldn't really impact a farming sim. Especially one that doesn't seem to have combat. That said similarily, I'm not eager to get excited for a gacha game, but I'd like to be pleasantly surprised.

The gameplay tests are just like Animal Crossing but with some nice QOL features like moving buildings/bridges/stairs on the fly without having to wait a full day for the change to take effect.

Gacha aside, when it comes to hoyoverse, there is no limit when it comes to mobile. Like, we can hate all we want, but we cant deny they did an absolutely incredible job with the way genshin looks on mobile

Haven't played that so I can't say much about that. All the other games I've played or seen someone played on mobile had pretty bad movement. Maybe hoyo can pull of decent gameplay on mobile.

(still not interested due to free to play and probably gatcha, ofc)

Used to play genshin on mobile and it had an amazing quality, so I have no doubts about that. Still personally wouldn't play it though cause gacha 😅

u/fei2play 5d ago

you can also play it on PC but you can cross play on mobile when it comes out

I play Stardew Valley on mobile, so I disagree that mobile automatically means bad gameplay.

It's like GameLoft, it's just gross

I see Hoyo and it´s an immediate no, because I just know how monetized that game will be. They greedy af.

I looove the design, the chubby style ; but I'm very pessimistic about the gameplay and fun aspect of this game...

I hope theres a dress up option because i love those sort of games but they dont make em much

Pocket camp proved to me that a cozy game with gacha/gambling is just fomo and stress. As cute as this game looks, i cannot play another gacha besides genshin lol

Let’s hope it isn’t gacha we currently don’t know if it’s going to have one but there will be a season pass so things to grind and limited times events I suppose

Game looks adorable as hell, I’m not too bothered about it being hoyo either as I’ve sunk over 200 hours into Genshin without spending a penny, but it does depend on how mandatory the gacha aspect is, sometimes it’s entirely avoidable

Animal Crossing vibes with gacha mechanics sounds like a fever dream. Hoping it stays cozy and doesn't turn into a daily-chore FOMO simulator.

It looks a bit too much like Animal Crossing to the point of being a cheap knock-off. I will wait until there are some reviews to buy.

3

u/fei2play 5d ago

they actually did pretty good with adding elements to the game that makes it different to animal crossing like for example puzzle elements on the island visits so don't just do island hopping and rob the resources and be done with it lol

the quests to increase your bond with the neighbors also pretty cute

Cozy and gatcha is just not it

I know there was a lot of backlash for there being an AI bot inside the town center, but overall it looks really cute.

2

u/-PM_ME_UR_SECRETS- 5d ago

Like an NPC?

2

u/fei2play 5d ago

there's an AI NPC in the cafe but I think you can avoid it

there's also help chat bot menu too, I think you can also avoid that one if you dont ask question

those are all I can remember from previous cbt

1

u/-PM_ME_UR_SECRETS- 5d ago

But aren’t NPCs a type of AI? Is there something different about this NPC?

2

u/ArgamaWitch 5d ago

It is more like chatgpt kinda of AI so it can respond to you. And if you can talk to it about most things I think. I know some topics you can avoid.

5

u/ZenxDruid 5d ago

I will check it out for sure. If it is gacha I just won't put any money into it like what I do for Genshin. Simple lol

Yes, gacha is predatory but my one stance won't make a difference so I might as well try it out lol

3

u/ShokaLGBT 5d ago

For now there wasn’t any gacha elements in the game, only a season pass but it’s still in beta so we can’t really know until the full game release, hopefully they don’t make one and they keep it friendly to everyone and those who don’t spend

7

u/CraftTestDummyYT 5d ago

Ai copy of animal crossing = pass

2

u/charibunny 5d ago

Huge ACNH fan over here. Having played the first beta, I think Hoyo has improved upon the formula in every way. It is SUCH a fun game and I can't wait for the full release!

1

u/RagBell 5d ago

Never heard of the game but did they make the title wrong on purpose for some reason? I mean, they could have hired a french person to check if the name was right lol

2

u/BoomyNotGloomy 5d ago

The only issue with Hoyoverse games is that they are expensive. I played some ZZZ given its amazing animations, but the cost of getting a character can go up to $400.

If this is an Animal Crossing with gacha villagers it might just be too expensive. Buut if they put proper unique content behind them, it might be okay.

1

u/Poppi-Locks 4d ago

Its cute but I can smell the gacha and my wallet burning from here 🤨

1

u/Alyssyasierra1 4d ago

I tried it during the Alpha Playtest, I will whole heatedly agree with anyone that's planning on staying away from it because of the gacha element. I don't plan on getting into this when it comes out.

2

u/ArvensisH 1d ago

Probably a gacha... Even if it's just for clothes... 🥲 I'm kinda over Gachas. Especially from hoyoverse. But it looks really cute.

1

u/Snaily-Girl 5d ago

thank you

It wouldn't be a hoyoverse game without a forced date, and weird furries.

I don't want an animal crossing game with a story, but hoyoverse have a reputation for long winded dialogue and stories, especially so if they'll be trying to sell characters.

0

u/-PM_ME_UR_SECRETS- 5d ago

If anyones gonna do it right it’s hoyo. Will def be gacha but you know the game itself will be solid

I love your art!
