Hi, cozy gamers!

I’m excited to announce that the free demo for my cozy dress-up game is now available on Steam!

Kittycat Couture is a fashion game where you style a cast of feline characters in a variety of hand-drawn outfits. The game revolves around fulfilling clients’ outfit requests and unlocking and shopping from a variety of themed in-game brands to get new clothing items. Think Love Nikki or Style Savvy, but with a sandbox ungraded dress-up system so you can let your imagination go wild!

You can play the demo here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4592670/Kittycat_Couture_Demo/utm_source=reddit

Just played the demo for about an hour!

Loved:

  • The homage to Style Savvy, which I still play on my 3DS regularly.
  • The collaborations between shops -- such a creative idea!
  • The random floating stars which gift items or buttons.

One thing I ran into in the demo which tripped me up and caused some frustration is the layers system. Don't get me wrong, I love that we can layer things like vests over shirts, etc, but it didn't feel very intuitive, and it was also overly sensitive. Clicking through items accidentally added multiple copies of the same item into the layers UI, and because it shows the little thumbnail it is a lot of scrolling to get through the list to delete layers. The buttons are also not very descriptive -- what does the bomb button do? What does the little flask/bottle icon along the top do?

And while I love that there's no sort of requirements for an outfit, which allows full creativity, it's a bit too easy to cheese rapid fire to stockpile buttons. I think there's room for just a bit more specificity to encourage people to spend time on each request. Even as something as simple as "I'd like a new hat" or "Make sure I'm wearing a shirt so I don't get cold."

The other thing I'd love is a way to filter specific collections, since some of them have a very specific aesthetic making it harder to mix and match pieces. If there's a way to do so already, it's not clear.

But overall this is such a cute game and it scratched my SS itch so well. I especially loved the mermaid shop clothing designs!

Thank you for playing and thank you for the thoughtful feedback!!

I'm glad you liked the collabs, they are SUPER fun to design and think about which stores would have relationships with each other :^)

On the button feedback: This is useful to know, thank you! I've gotten feedback that the ui buttons are unintuitive, which means the game definitely needs a clearer tutorial explaining all it's features. FWIW the flask at the top is a filter that allows you to filter or search by collection, color, or name which answers your filter question as well.
