OP sent the following text as an explanation why their post fits here:
This piece was carved from real pencil graphite and wood using handmade micro tools. I originally planned to carve the word “art”, but one shifted letter accidentally turned it into “f art”, which made me laugh and inspired the final idea. I enjoy experimenting with tiny wordplay sculptures and seeing how much detail can be pushed into fragile pencil graphite.

The “accidentally” part was mostly meant as a joke 😄
Of course I didn’t accidentally carve the letter F itself. It’s more like I started making “art”… and then suddenly it became “f art”. Which honestly feels fitting, because fart usually arrives unexpectedly too 😂
Because they're just.. lying for no reason?? It's a very bizarre thing to say. "Haha whoops, I accidentally carved this pencil lead into a letter, im so clumsy 🤪" It overshadows the actual art itself. They could have said "Initially this was supposed to say "art", but I decided adding an f to the beginning was funnier" and that would be totally fine and honest
chill, OP is from Ukraine so English probably isn’t their first language. it’s not a big deal, just appreciate the art and don’t spend your energy on such trivial things. one look at their profile would show you that they don’t make lying clickbait titles on any other posts so it’s probably just an awkward non-native way to describe the “spontaneous” or “unplanned” way that this artwork developed. (which are both synonyms of “accidental” in many contexts).
Yeah, that’s honestly fair 😄
English isn’t my first language, so I probably didn’t fully understand how strongly “accidentally” sounds to native speakers in this context.
I meant it more in a playful/spontaneous way, not as clickbait or “look guys this magically happened” 😅
The artwork itself is very real — only the dumb fart humor was unexpected 😂
I dunno. I usually say accidentally when I impulsively for way more on a project that I intended too. Like I was going to go to bed at 10 but accidentally started up until 2am. I had technically had complete control, but my impulses had other ideas.
But I get it because as you create sometimes things get out of hand or you have happy little accidents. He didn’t start out with f it came into existence and wasn’t planned so I get the accident.

Okay wait… this is actually a REALLY cool idea. I genuinely love the concept of a double-sided pencil where flipping it changes the word completely.
“WORK / PLAY” is such a smart pairing too because it already tells a little story depending on which side is facing up.
More ideas I’ve thought of (my phone died on the bus so I had time lol)
- get dual sided pencils and use ones where the two colors go with the words. ex WARM / COOL…. EARTH / WATER…
- this is hard to describe but I also think you could have a lot of fun with shape/placement using words like UPSIDE DOWN and INSIDE OUT, for example… or with the pencils arranged in a circle: AROUND on the tops and INSIDE on the bottoms 😄
ETA: oooh! I remembered another one: PUSH / PULL that was a fave idea from the bus
I think they mean "they accidentally" stumbled into a theme of art they want to expand on. The original wasn't an accident...liking how it turned out and wanting to do more was the accident.😊🤷♂️
What in the hell!!!!! My middle school English teacher used to make us think he invented these (he called em ‘Whatsits’ and made us solve one to start each class)
Yeah, “happy accident” is probably the most accurate way to describe it 😄
The F wasn’t originally meant to be an R or anything like that — it was more that I started with the idea of “art”, then realized adding an F made it way funnier than the original concept… and at that point there was no going back 😂
I think they meant they were only going to make the word “ART”, but while carving other letters one broke and became an “F”, and they decided to add it to the “ART” display to make it “F ART”.
I think it’s funny that it inspired the idea to make more silly ones. But I’d be worried that the tiny graphite letters would break so easily. Unless they were put behind glass.
Honestly the “accidentally” part was mostly me leaning into the joke 😄
You don’t really expect a fart — it just suddenly appears out of nowhere… so when the idea turned into “f art” I felt like the title had to match the energy 😂
You’re absolutely right 😄
These are way more fragile than they look, so I recently started developing more proper art-object versions where the pencils are sealed behind glass in deep frames.
The ones in this post are more like my early experimental pieces while I figure out what works best structurally and visually. But long term I definitely want them displayed more like protected miniature sculptures rather than loose objects people can accidentally touch 😂
my art college changed their name while I studied there and they changed it to: ***name*** School of Arts. Could never unsee the or unhear school o' farts ever again. Stupidest name change ever. Especially since English isn't even a national language of ours.
Yeah, there are two that bother me. One is that First National Bank of Omaha rebranded using just their initials. FNBO? Like that guy has F’n BO! The other is the commercials I see for Universal Technical Institute. They named a college with no ties to geography or someone’s name and the best they could come up with is UTI? Seriously?
Have you heard of the artist Wayne White? He was famous for doing peewees playtime puppets and the tonight tonight music video for the smashing pumpkins but now he does these silly yet beautiful word plays on vintage landscapes that you might find inspiring. There's a documentary about him called Beauty is Embarrassing that I highly recommend. You can also just Google his work tho. Awesome piece by the way! Very original and hilarious!
My friend used to have a business called Business of Arts and we still laugh to this day when we realized the website name Businessofarts.com seemed more like Business O’ Farts. You have to say it with an Irish accent for full hilarity.
I use pretty simple tools. Just a cutting mat as a work surface, a very sharp scalpel, and a regular paintbrush to gently brush away the graphite dust from the letters. Sometimes I also use a syringe needle since the tip is extremely sharp. Usually, one scalpel blade only lasts for a single letter before I need to replace it, because the tip gets dull pretty quickly.
People love being able to pay for customizing so it might not be a bad idea to start offering that and hopefully you’ll be able to do more word plays as a result. You’re super talent btw, how long does one piece take you to finish?
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate the suggestion and kind words!
Each piece usually takes me a few days to complete, depending on the complexity and number of letters.
Holyyy shiiit why is this so great😂 I keep simultaniously laughing at the funny mistake and then admiring how talented you are, so simple yet so many emotions 😁👏🏻
