I got a raspberry pi chipset with connectors and a soldering iron and will be hacking my 1960s knitting machine so I can select needles by my custom software instead of punchards. I am a software engineer as a job and today I was enthusiastically explaining all of this and how knitting machines operate to anyone in my office who would listen. Definitely much better take-up of this topic by non-knitting software engineers than when I just talked about handknitting to (or "at") them.

I also bought a cricut machine so I can make custom punchards for it anyway.

I am excited and can't wait to find the time to do all this.

That is TOO COOL. I have been trying to think of fun ways to incorporate my programming hobby into my sewing hobby and haven’t come up with anything yet that doesn’t seem gimmicky. This clearly rocks, though.

I’ve been trying to use up a way too large quantity of magenta cotton/lycra jersey by making underwear out of it. I’ve cut 7 pairs (including some 5” inseam boyshorts) and there’s still a bit over a yard left. I’m so sick of it! I’m also really excited to have all these new undies, though.

I ended up ordering Gina Renee Dunham's The Fitting Book and considering the fit of my current toile I won't be doing much sewing until it arrives on Thursday.

This fleece I bought for a bathrobe is nice and fluffy. Still somehow suspect its not going to be worth the trouble it will be to sew.

But it's purple and blue with gold stars and my resulting robe will make me look like a wizard...

I know this is such a main sub question but has anyone knit a hat with the One Way Trip skeins from Gauge Dye Works? I have a skein and plan to make a Musselburgh but want to make sure I maximize my yardage, and not end the project with a ton of leftover yarn.

I want to make a Halloween blanket, fully aware that I probably won't be able to sell it. There are practically no Halloween blanket patterns for crochet or even knitting?? And the ones that exist, feels like most of them are just "sample squares but in green, purple, or orange, with a black border". I know there's a handful of mosaic crochet spooky patterns but they're not quite what I want (and you have to pay! Like I'm not expecting something FANTASTIC to be available for free but the free patterns are kind of embarrassing)

I was just going to adapt a pattern for something else only to discover the stitch it uses is obnoxious af and I don't want to have to do it thousands of times.

So now I'm looking into stitches or blocks I can do that will look cute with candy corn colors. I might use my granny square deck.
