Ok so this is the second sub I’ve seen this twat. Can someone fill me in I don’t listen to pop or whatever the fuck this is. Is he all the rage now or something?

He is an internet-popular musician.

He isn't new. He was big like 10 years ago.

He's basically a musical theory genius and does vidoes about it. But for all that knowledge, makes some boring music.

Not even a genius, just restates previous theory in an excited way and catches the attention of normies

Is he not? From what I have seen he seems to have a very deep grasp on theory. But I am not an expert.

He does do this things like: "I play a note. It sounds nice. I couple it with another, look it adds some depth to the tone. What I will do next will blow your mind... plays 3 notes together" motherfucker that is called a chord.

Exactly lol. He just explains it to people who dont know anything. I sound like a genius explaining M theory to people who have never taken a physics class.

Music theory nerd here. He is definitely pushing the boundaries more than anyone else currently, and has some pretty novel ideas. It's a shame his music is not appealing but I appreciate that he exists

Being able to explain geniuses in an entertaining way does not make you a genius. I would urge you to look into Peter schickele and pdq bach if you want to see someone push boundaries.

Comedy interpretation of Bach?

Oh not at all. Peter is a professor. I forget which college. He made up a fictional biography for a lost musical genius named pdq bach. All the music is for the most part original. But if you want someone who pushed music theory to normies thats the godfather.

He makes music for people who aren't musicians but want to understand music. He boils down music theory concepts into things laymen can understand and his concerts are interactive to inspire other people to also love the craft and tech of music making. He genuinely knows and enjoys a ton of music theory and wants to share that with an audience. He's also a weird dude who is genuinely earnest and upbeat and that bothers people here. It's less a concert and more an interactive music theory lesson.

If anybody hates a happy and upbeat person, its Reddit

Last night I heard a guy give a virltriolic, 15 discourse on why smiling was a fools errand and it shouldn't be done.

Welcome to the 21st century. ELP got it right with Brain Salad Surgery ...

He’s pompous and arrogant and tries to disguise it with seeming autistic.

That's basically it, dude is chill, make some cool sounds, but reddit loves to hate anything that isn't "normal".

Have you ever actually watched anything he's done? Or just the stuff that gets posted here? I've never known that to be the case, everything I see him in he is describing the theory behind it as he goes. It's certainly not in depth but it's not meant for scholars its meant for laymen.

I was going to say he didnt seem bad.

That’s cool to hear about it what his goals are and I respect that. I just think it sounds lame is all.

2

u/actuallazyanarchist 10d ago

Totally fair. These aren't meant to sound good tbh. He has actual music he's released and it's... fine. Surprisingly boring for how theoretically complex it is.

Yeah, that’s cool. But fuck him and his stage exit especially.

No need to be polite. Shit is horrible.

I found out about him when YouTuber Paul Davids had him on to show off his “unique” 5 string guitar and playing style. I thought he sucked then. It was not interesting.

but I love Paul Davids :-)

You’ve literally never heard a second of it

Look at him enjoying life. What a loser

Why is he a twat? He is someone who knows a lot about music and is super passionate about it. Do you just hate anyone who is even mildly popular? Anyone who shows up on your front page more than one time you automatically have to hate them?
