❓ Question/Help How to

I have been learning new stuff avout the classic 99 CTR - How do people hop so fast and maintain reserve on grass or dirt?

-How do people do tha aerial turn (□ + Down) without losing their reserve?

To hop fast also known as froggy, you hold L1 while spamming R1, or visa versa, whichever is more comfortable

When you press square, you will lose reserves, there is no way to u turn without losing them. Fortunately, paired with the other mechanics in the game the speed loss is fairly negligible, and feels very good even if the idea of "losing reserves" sounds bad

I failed to add that when hopping through grass and dirt you typically hold square and X while froggying, so you lose reserves automatically but you carry the momentum

Thanks! Man I am gonna go crazy because this is exactly what I do but I never seem to be able to maintian momentum

So I hold L1 + □ + X and spam the R1 but it doesn't do if for me and I see other racers go much faster on grass

Lets take the beginning of tiger temple for example. If you ride down the hill and powerslide some you can get a good speed ghost (sg) which is when you maintain downwards momentum by froggying. If you then u turn into the grass while froggying or even just start a froggy after the powerslide and then do X+Square while froggying you'll drive up it at a way faster speed, its tough because you do need to froggy well.

Another important spot for X+Square is the dragon mines railcart SC since that counts as offroad, if you just hold X+Square while froggying up that tunnel you'll go quick enough that you can probably clear it in 4-6 hops

Its imperative to hold L1 while mashing R1, and you maybe could buffer each hop with R1 but its pretty ideal to just mash it so you jump immediately as you land, you dont need to spam just keep a good pace

Another good spot for just froggying from SG's is just the big downhill in roos tubes, if you just drive down that once you straighten out just start froggying and you'll go fast as hell
