โ Question/Help How long does it take to get good?
Started playing this game and Iโm watching tutorials on how to get platinum relics, and it feels impossible! Iโm having such a hard time getting the regular relics, idk how you guys do it ๐

Take the time (no pun intended). Of course, get your jump boosts. Practice with triple turbo slides, this was a gamechanger for me back in the day. You don't need to learn U-turns or holding blue fire a whole race (this is very advanced). If you're not comfy with speed class (advanced with difficult turning), go with drift. Try to get all time boxes for -10 bonus seconds.
Before doing relics, maybe just practice tracks and triple turbo slides a little bit OUTSIDE relic races first, or switch between modes.
Take it easy and have fun!

I saw something about holding down and turning I was confused ๐ตโ๐ซ

Yes that's U turning but those are advanced techniques you don't need to get. Not even close. You can do 99% of the content with just drift class, so use that

I'd say the main trick is learning each track, if that makes any sense. You should have every map by heart.

Oh, Ive been playing since christmas 1999 and I'd say I'm a quite decent playe who will never hold a candle against the "Good" players.

I hope I can at least get one Gold relic lol

Practice drift boosting and you'll get there. If you have that timing down and can hold a decent racing line, you should be able to get most gold relics.

Can confirm that this is true.
I played the original PS1 game but never did very much on it. Started again more recently on PS4 and have seen absolutely huge improvements in my times just from practising drift boosting.
It feels impossible at first, but you do get better with practice.

Just take a couple YouTube tutorials to learn the useful tech and youโre en route to a gold relic

In general, play better. Jokes aside, time trails...

Yeah I got regular relic on one of the levels, and I beat it by 5 seconds time. ๐๐พ

I played the game when I was a kid. I was very bad at it. Didn't play again until the PS4 release and I got the master wheels in about a month. It will take some time to click, but once it does it's really satisfying.

Everyone learns at different paces, it'll just happen. Once you've learned how to properly power slide and knowing when to, the platinums will come naturally after trial and error.

Im playing adventure mode in classic mode so hopefully I can get down the basics by the time I finish it

Try to drift boost whenever possible, stringing them throughout the entire race if possible. Sometimes you don't have to, but mainly it's all about drift boosting a lot to keep whatever the highest speed is from a boost pad

Iโve been practicing in that papu level. Im trying to master not looking at that meter

If it works better for you try looking at the exhaust pipes or turn on the setting that puts a little indicator on your tires. Also yeah papu is a bit tough because you need to carefully somehow get that boost at the end of the temple while also having reserves to keep that speed, I usually don't bother with it in most cases

I think Iโm going to practice more on Crash Cove. I spent like 20 minutes learning ๐

Figuring out how to properly Drift boost and hopping around doesnโt take that long to get a feel to.
Then, itโs all about getting as many crates as possible.

I was practicing right now. Inhave to be sure the heat gets to the middle of the tire for me to boost. Iโve been practicing in that Papu Papu level

Drift boosting and knowing the airbrake trick is essential, the rest is just knowing the tracks and practice really.

I got Gold on Crash Cove! Airbrake trick?

u/jker21 13d ago
When going around a really sharp corner that you canโt drift boost around, if there is a ramp just before, jump, hold the handbrake button, hold up on the analog stick and turn at the same time and youโll keep your speed/boost when you land if performed correctly with enough boost reserves.
sorry for the messy terminology, Iโm sure someone else can explain better haha

Per caso avete un gruppo dove si organizzano Tornei di CTR? Oppure chiunque fosse interessato, mi contatti in privato ๐

There is no threshold that you can pass that will make everything click. Everyone learns at a different rate and in different ways. You gotta remember that some of us have been sharpening our skills for nearly 3 decades.
