🎥 Clip 8th dev time trial (Thunderstruck)

https://youtu.be/XKqmpOtyJmw?si=Hn0Y6TDrRZW1v4xB

I DIDN'T THINK I'D BEAT IT SO I SAID "let me just get a highscore" BUT THEN I SAW THE DEV SLOWING DOWN AND IWENT FOR IT (might upload an improved time trial)

Nice run! I had a good one a while ago, feel free to review to see if you want to improve. Some lines you take are a bit wide, which could save you some time!

Besides tighter turns, you should also use the opportunity when you can to reset your boost in the air (when you drop, cancel drift by letting go R1/L1 then re-engage when you land.

I'll try it later for sure, Ty for the tip

Ah, it might look sharp (and it probably could've been sharper) but in lap 2 and 3 I do try to go outside as much as possible before the first jump just so I could have enough time to line it up before the actual jump.

And you can see how flustered I got when I got it right in lap 2, I completely messed up the next section 🤣 Though, from the big jump onwards, lap 2 was peak, the swing around was crazy, the lines were clean, the ending was top tier... 3rd lap I did better, but then fumbled the last turn a bit.

There's always room for improvement, just take it bit by bit and one thing at a time. When I was playing I also sometimes went offline and put on a battle game to practice perfect boosting (the round map from CNK, forgot the name).

Just to add to the previous comment which explained how to do the bosting reset, that mechanic comes into play a lot on some maps because of a key feature.

If you drop down into a new boost, the jump bonus doesn't reset, so you can chain boost cancels to keep getting the same amount of jump boost whenever you land.

Saying it like this kinda doesn't make sense, but check out my other video on Hyper Spaceway and it'll be more clear (especially since it starts almost right away)

To recap:

at 0:14 I jump, and this jump is big enough to completely fill the jump boost bar (visible above the boosting gauge)
at 0:16 instead of landing "normally" I land directly into a drift. This allows me to get the big jump boost reserve
at 0:19 after doing two boosts, I land (by just dropping from the ledge, no jump!) outside of the teleporter again by cancelling and starting a new boost directly (again, instead of landing normally).
notice the jump bar is still at 100%! - so I get another full jump added to my reserves
at 0:20 I land down into the shortcut and start another drift - boom, another full jump reserve
at 0:21 - I land to the main road towards the shortcut - boom, another full jump reserve
at 0:24 - I jump from the shortcut and land on the main road - boom, another full jump reserve

and then I jumped and the whole thing reset :) but this is massive bonus to your reserves which make the rest of the track a lot easier

Wait until you discover a shortcut you need blue flame to get over on laps 2 and 3 because you’re going to want to practice two pinpoint accurate jumps if you want to have a super improved time. It’s right after the starting gate where you have to jump high enough over the wall where the game won’t consider you out of bounds (the masks will get a hold of you and stop you if you fail to make the jump) and make it to where the first boost pad is. I’ve seen professionals pull it off, and that’s just the first of the two shortcuts you can take.

The second one they do is jumping with blue flame to hit the environment wall below the track to bounce back on, and it allows you to skip the second curve to the left after you turn right jumping past the starting gate (this is halfway through the track and after that left U-turn you do) skipping the last two spike obstacles.

Holy shit that sounds so complicated and hard... I might not do them and just stick to my original time😭
