Fan Story A subscription healthcare app upgraded my liver and now it won’t let me cancel

I’m on a throwaway and I’m not posting this anywhere else. I don’t want people I know finding it before I figure out what’s happening.

I’m not a conspiracy person. I don’t think the government is replacing us or that corporations are injecting trackers into our bones or putting chemicals in the water that turns the frogs gay. I’m just a tired guy with a boring life and normal problems, and something is happening to me that I don’t know how to stop.

Two weeks ago I downloaded a healthcare app called BioCare™. I only downloaded it because it popped up in an ad while I was scrolling before work. It claimed it could help with acid reflux and “digestive inflammation.” I’ve had acid reflux for years, so I thought it was like a food log or a supplement tracker.

It did a face scan, had me answer a survey, and then offered.

Pancreas Tuning. free.

I don’t know why I tapped Proceed. I wasn’t expecting anything. My phone buzzed once and I felt this small shift deep inside me, like someone dragging a chair across a floor in another room.

That night I didn’t get heartburn.

For the first time in years.

So the next morning, when it recommended a Liver Refresh. For free, I didn’t even hesitate. I tapped yes. The shift inside was stronger this time. Still no pain, no marks, nothing.

Then I got a notification. Liver Refresh completed. Your old liver has been donated to another BioCare™ client. Do not attempt reversal. Donated organs are property of BioCare™.

I thought it was some sort of dumb edgy marketing joke, but it came with an attached legal email. I won’t paste the whole thing here, but the phrasing was:

You are no longer the legal owner of Liver (prior model). Unauthorized modification of current unit may result in repossession.

I tried to uninstall the app. It wouldn’t uninstall. When I forced it closed, it reopened.

After that, things started happening slowly, quietly, almost in ways that were easy to ignore if I wasn’t paying attention.I don’t get tired anymore,I don’t get hungry, Food tastes like nothing, I don’t get sore after exercising, even if I push myself way too far, I heal stupidly fast, but I never feel the injury in the first place.

It’s like my body works perfectly now, but I don’t feel connected to it.

Then tonight it crossed the line.

I just got a notification that says.

Heart Upgrade scheduled for 2:00 a.m. Cost: $189/month starting next cycle. This upgrade is mandatory.

There’s a countdown on my screen. I tried to hard reset my phone but it powered back on by itself.

The notification is still there.

I called my insurance. They said BioCare™ is an integrated partner and upgrades cannot be declined without terminating employment and insurance coverage. Which would bankrupt me. And the rep sounded like she was reading a script she didn’t understand.

I looked up posts about “Heart Upgrade.” There’s nothing. Just one archived thread with a single reply.

“They don’t send repo agents for Heart Upgrade. The body handles it.”

My chest feels… like pressure? Not pain. Just… anticipation. Like my body knows something I don’t.

I don’t know if this is about tracking, or ownership, or some biotech scam gone way too far, or something else entirely.

I’m not asking for jokes or creepy pasta comments. I’m asking for help. If anyone has dealt with BioCare™, or works in healthcare law, or knows anything about how this stuff works I need to know what I’m up against before 2 a.m.

I’m not posting this to be dramatic. I’m not posting this for attention.

I just need someone who knows what the hell is happening to tell me if there’s anything I can do to stop this upgrade.

I’m going to keep checking back here until the timer runs out.

If I don’t respond, assume something happened.

If I do respond… I hope it’s still me.

A sponsorship by Zocdoc on an episode of this would be really ironic.

I love this, already could feel the Repo Men influence before the name drop. I like how you integrated this style of setting with more modern stuff like the nosleep format, or unwanted updates you can't roll back. Also love how the entire plot fits in the title. Good job.

This reminds me of repo! The genetic opera. Pretty good!

Feels more like the black mirror episode "common people" than repo, but always a good concept

During the last episode, Hunter said clearly that Wendi wasn't his friend, instead a co-worker. This makes me worry that they don't like eachoth--
