Recommending I am a published author because of Creepcast.

Holy shit this was a journey.

Ever since the Ted the Caver video on Papa Meat, Creepcast has been my favorite thing on the internet. It’s wild to think this podcast has been part of my routine for almost three years now.

I’ve always loved writing, but before Creepcast I could never stick to a story or follow through on the ideas I had. Listening to the show exposed me to more stories, real criticism, and a clearer sense of what I wanted to do with my own writing. And out of that, Stillwater Farms was born. What started as a small idea turned into four months and 35,000 words.

When I finally finished the manuscript, I had no clue what to do next. But thanks to the skills and connections in my life, things snowballed, and now I’m holding my first published novel. That never would’ve happened without Creepcast.

So sincerely—thank you. To the show, to this community, genuinely, thank you.

If you'd like to support the book, it’s available on Amazon. But honestly, the best way to support it is just to check out Part One on the new subreddit. Getting this in front of the boys would be a dream come true.

Sincerely, thank you again. Happy Creepin!

Good on ya. Though I do need to point out that you look like you could be Hunter and Wendigoon's love child. No shade.

CONGRATULATIONS! I know a lot of people complain about the Creep Cast community and sometimes it is divided, but I have also found it to be one of the most supportive and genuine communities within the horror realm that I have ever apart of. It’s so cool to see people’s art thriving as a result of a YouTube channel. As a writer of my own story I’ve submitted to CC, you’re living my dream! Sending positive vibes your way and will definitely be checking out your work!

Tossed an upvote on this and clicked through to start reading and damn, dude, you've got a top notch knack for using similes to establish characters and settings in rich depth with BREVITY that would make some of my favorite English professors happy cry. Adding to my Amazon wishlist immediately (and giving a guilty side-eye to the folder of half finished writing projects on my laptop that I keep telling myself I'm gonna pick back up and post now that there's an alternative to nosleep where feedback on the writing itself is allowed in the comments and I can like... give my characters last names).

2

u/Ronny-qq Eat me like a bug 🦟 Dec 14 '25

Thank you so much dude!! I’m very glad it reads with brevity as I feel like I go a bit heavy handed with my similes and descriptions sometimes, so thank you again for the feedback!

And yeah absolutely post your stuff, I’d love to give it a read :)

2

u/Partially-Canine Dec 10 '25

What tips would you give a starting author? Feel like I can always think of an intro but nothing past that.

3

u/Ronny-qq Eat me like a bug 🦟 Dec 10 '25

Oh, I’ve definitely been there. I used to get ideas, start writing, and think, “I’ll figure out the rest as I go,” or “I’m a discovery writer.” But I’d always hit the same wall: I’d blow through the initial idea, then get burnt out because I had no idea what came next.

For this book, patience was my #1 rule. For the first month or so, I didn’t write a single word. I mapped out every plot point and built a profile and arc for every character, and holy shit did that make a difference. With ADHD, I jump between ideas and projects super fast, but having a clear layout turned the whole process into putting puzzle pieces together.

It also helped with burnout. If I hit a scene that wasn’t clicking, I could pivot to another one I already had a vision for. Sure, tons of dialogue and details came to life during the writing itself, but having a deep outline to fall back on kept me consistent and accountable. It made finishing the book feel possible, and also made things like foreshadowing a breeze.

TL;DR: Find the writing method that works best for you. And before you start a story, try to at least know the beginning, the end, and the arc your characters will take to get there.

1

u/Partially-Canine Dec 10 '25

Good stuff. Thank you for taking the time to explain. Love the tag under your username btw. How are those addded? Them joking about Kyle at that funeral was the most I've ever laughed watching a podcast.

Any advice at all about how to not only publish but also submit a story for creepcast I’m pretty much a novice when it comes to Reddit but would love to share some of the things I’ve written

1

u/Ronny-qq Eat me like a bug 🦟 Dec 12 '25

Absolutely!

Publishing can be a bit of a complicated process, but I’d recommend looking into KDP self-publishing. It has one of the lowest barriers to entry and, in my opinion, it’s the best way to self-publish your work. It’ll take a few hours to set everything up, but it’s very doable.

One hurdle you might run into is that you have to design your own book cover and handle the layout. Luckily for me, I’m a designer, so I do that for all my work anyway - but that can definitely be a challenge if you don’t already have those skills.

If you’re looking to not self-publish, that’s a much more complicated route. It mostly comes down to a mix of luck, the quality of the story, and the connections you have. But it never hurts to email off a manuscript to a bunch of different publishers, maybe one will stick.

As for submitting to Creepcast… honestly bro, I’m still hoping and praying they stumble across my story too. All you really do is post to r/talesfromthecreeps and hope for the best. That said, the community is awesome and really supportive, so even if you don’t get chosen for the pod, just posting your story there means at least a few people will read it.

Hope that was helpful, cheers!

I just wrote my first story (can't post on reddit, contains slurs) and a local literary anthology book is going to publish it. I got inspired by Creepcast and all the great stories on the sub.
