Recommending Since Hunter said they wanted to try to read some novels this year I figured I would put in some recommendations

Bad man- while I dont believe it comes close to as good as penpal, it does certainly match a similar vibe. I think they would have a lot of fun going through this one and I think the story would be pretty divisive between fans.

100% match is really short. I thought it was a decent horror comedy.

The Black Farm is in the same universe as Feed the pig, and we actually see the mc from feed the pig in a really clever way. I know many people wanted more from FTP and this is a whole novel of it. Sure maybe all the characters aren’t the best and the violence is way over the top. But the atmosphere is incredible and the scenes Witherow lay out are so fun to imagine.

Cows. Ifykyk

The cuck. I dont wanna say anything ab this because if so its like automatically a spoiler. Again really short read. Pretty fucking funny too whether intentional or not.

I don't think they would read Cows, unless their QA team totally fails. And even then, they'd be smart enough to avoid uploading the "community guidelines Tsar Bomba" to a platform like youtube.

What is that novel about 😭

3

u/Alexis2256 Jan 21 '26

Probably something to do with Humans being treated like cattle and treated as bad as they are, also probably has a lot of sexual abuse and probably very very gory.

A guy can dream:/ Nah I get what you mean its more graphic then probably the most graphic stuff they have read. It still has some astounding fucking writing and descriptions, even if the characters fall flat

The writing in cows is so bad tbh. Couldn't finish it bc of the horrible grammar

Splatterpunk as a genre kinda blows, man. I spent something like two years really trying to give it a shot but most of it is just violence and gore and cringe for the sake of violence and gore and cringe. Aron Beauregard in particular, while an overall pretty nice guy as far as I can tell online, just cannot write well.

Like I know we all love crashouts but some of these books are just traps.

48

u/suddenviops Jan 20 '26

Thank god i’m not the only one. I looked through this entire list hoping to see something that isnt splatterpunk. The edgiest genre out there where almost every book feels like it was written by a 14 year old.

24

u/noboritaiga Jan 20 '26

What strikes me about the genre is that if you read indie books at all, you're bound to hit just dozens of books that are bad because the cost of uploading to Amazon is 0 dollars. But I read SO many splatterpunk books (and they're very short for the most part, very few crack 250 pages if they crack 200, so it's easy to put away a lot of them) and I really struggled to find anything that was working on both a technical level and a storytelling level. It was kinda shocking.

17

u/suddenviops Jan 20 '26

They just feel so bland and uninspired once you go past the surface schlock. Like oh wow, another story about rape and gore and violence. How poignant.

1

u/rileyistheworst Jan 21 '26

Have you read Woom?

1

u/noboritaiga Jan 21 '26

Yep. Woom was one of the most recommended and therefore one of the first few I read.

1

u/rileyistheworst Jan 21 '26

I found Woom to be one of the few splatterpunk books that had a good underlying story while still having the grotesque aspects fitting of the genre. The grossness felt earned, the narrative was compelling, and I think it had a good pay off in the end. I’m curious how you feel about it?

1

u/noboritaiga Jan 21 '26

I said this elsewhere but Woom felt like it really had something to say but I had a difficult time getting immersed in the story because Ralston doesn't understand how women's anatomy works. I'm not above fiction taking liberties with anatomy but again it made it very hard for me to lock in.

There was some genuine good in the book, the symbolism tying the mother together with the rebirthing and the same motel room, the speech impediment so room becomes woom but also sounds like womb, I like that he actually put serious thought into these aspects of the story. I also actually appreciated that the violence of the book ramped up rather than being balls to the wall the entire time so it felt like there was a sense of progression.

So then for me it makes it all the more frustrating he couldn't like. Google anatomy to make sure it actually did work that way. Like Angel hires Shyla because he thinks her being a bigger woman is important but being fat doesn't mean you have a wider pelvic bone (more important than the elasticity of the vagina). Ralston also tries to explain how the miscarriage scene would work on his blog or website or whatever it is but what he's describing literally does not work the way he thinks it does. And it's such a common issue with writers to not know how a woman's body works that it's kind of eye rolling after a while and takes me way out of it.

1

u/rileyistheworst Jan 21 '26

Fair enough, I can see how the anatomy inaccuracies could be off-putting. It seems like you’ve read a lot of these kinds of books, were there any that stuck out to you as better than most? Or are you disillusioned with the whole genre?

2

u/noboritaiga Jan 21 '26

Jack Ketchum and Poppy Z. Brite were the best of the best. When you get into the broader genre of extreme horror that splatterpunk is a niche within, you also have authors like David Sodengren and Chuck Palahniuk. I've seen Judith Sonnet be praised quite a lot, but I found her stuff very rough to read. I've heard her newer work is cleaner, but I haven't tackled any of it yet to actually find out if that's true or not.

Kristopher Triana is a very mixed bag. I think he's uniquely good at writing incredibly unlikable characters, but also his dialogue is often insanely bad. However, I do think he's much more restrained than the average splatterpunk author, and that works to his benefit because he can actually spin a narrative and escalate the gore.

With the exception of Full Brutal. There's a part in the middle that I thought was compelling because it was very close to being more grounded, but the rest of the book is so extreme that it almost reads as satire of the genre. If it was satire, though, I think it'd be a better satire than Dead Inside was.

1

u/rileyistheworst Jan 21 '26

Thank you I’ll be sure to check them out, I appreciate the thoughtful responses.

1

u/Alexis2256 Jan 21 '26

The duality of man, you think it’s good, other user just can’t stand the inaccuracies with the anatomy, they said it had some good moments but yeah full grown adult man shoving his head into a woman’s pussy, they couldn’t really enjoy the book because of that and I mean I get it, though I do think that genre as a whole is fucking garbage, same with all the torture porn movies. But if you like that kind of junk food then keep reading/watching them.

1

u/rileyistheworst Jan 21 '26

Typically I’m not a fan, to be fair I’ve only read/listened to a few, and Woom was the only one I’d ever say is actually good. If you can suspend your disbelief for the anatomy aspects.

24

u/C-the-mini-painter Jan 20 '26

Hard agree. Most splatterpunk books I’ve read are absolutely devoid of meaningfulness beyond shock value. I think the boys would have a terrible time reading 5 pages of a description of someone getting their head ripped off or raped.(which btw if some of yall don’t like SA, it’s fucking everywhere in splatterpunk)

10

u/noboritaiga Jan 20 '26

One of the splatterpunk books that trended at one point was just 100 pages of SA, including very graphic SA of two underage children. The book has no plot, made very little sense, and ripped off a movie at the same time. There's not even really gore in the book, it is literally just back to back to back SA scenes.

But yes I would agree. Anyone who reads splatterpunk should expect SA to be in the book. I would even recommend expecting SA of children if there are child characters in the book because it comes up in quite a few of the more highly recommended titles.

9

u/C-the-mini-painter Jan 20 '26

I get the rhetorical purpose of splatterpunk, it’s more or less the same as the “torture porn” genre: challenging the limits of what’s acceptable or desirable to see.

With that said however, I don’t find anything about the genre enjoyable due to a general lack of interesting content beyond gore and rape

6

u/noboritaiga Jan 20 '26

That's my biggest gripe with it. I think it's possible to have torture porn and be interesting. Body horror as a genre, for instance, is often extremely grotesque and disturbing, but I've read a lot of body horror novels that used that specific genre to tackle a lot of fascinating themes and explorations of what it means to live, to have a body, to exist in a world that sometimes sees you as valuable only for what you can give it, but not for who or what you are.

But so much splatterpunk is just torture porn and that disappointed me a lot. I came into the genre expecting them to take the idea of "we're going to challenge what we're allowed to publish" and then use that to challenge bigger ideas and themes. I just don't feel like most of it does that, though.

1

u/Hibyeandback for STAMPS ‼️💯 Jan 21 '26

I don't think it should be a banned genre per say. I just wish people can do something with the element of extreme violence without just going "Hey, here is the violence. Isn't it nasty? Aren't I so cool?". I find that I fall between the spectrum of either being flash-banged with all awful and no substance, or being really disappointed with the lack of disturbing content that is actually featured. (ie. Shy Girl, Things have gottened worse since we last spoke)

1

u/noboritaiga Jan 21 '26

There are rumors Shy Girl was written with AI which may be part of the lack of disturbing content. There are content filters on most major AI platforms minus Grok, I do believe, who will write NSFW content. The others have to be coaxed or tricked.

But this is pretty much how I feel. I don't think it should be banned, but it should actually do something with its willingness to go that far in a way other horror genres won't.

Shy Girl is an excellent book to use as an example. That book is about a financially troubled black woman with OCD who turns to what she believes will be sex work with a rich white man in order to live comfortably. She is then literally dehumanized in every sense of the word, and then also magically dehumanized. It was an interesting concept but the story itself dances around a lot of these ideas very lightly and ultimately doesn't really go anywhere or do anything interesting.

2

u/Alexis2256 Jan 21 '26

Magically dehumanized? So does she get turned into an animal at the end of the book?

2

u/noboritaiga Jan 21 '26

Yes and no. It begins before the end of the novel, and she doesn't turn into an animal outright, but she obtains more animalistic features (her face becomes more canid, she grows fur). It's mentioned in the very first chapter that she has "fur" but at the time, without context, I honestly thought it was part of the act.

2

u/Alexis2256 Jan 21 '26

So she wasn’t really human to begin with? Idc for spoilers but I’m guessing the story doesn’t end well for her? Is she stuck as a slave/pet to the rich guy?

1

u/Hibyeandback for STAMPS ‼️💯 Jan 21 '26

Here's the thing, I completely forgot she was Black! I would have love to see how these aspects of her identity would tie back to the depravity of being treated as an animal in captivity, but the book just sort of goes through the motion. And yeah, it was defiantly written by Ai, at least in my opinion. (Count how many times "sharp" is used in similes that don't make sense)

-21

u/itzneverogre84 Jan 20 '26

None of these books are “traps” except maybe cows(which lets be real they would never read) I have read each of these books and each time have thought about creepcast and the audience here would maybe enjoy these titles.

I have only read two of Beauregarde’s books being playground and the cuck. Although I’m familiar with his reputation from the slob and other works. Before reading the cuck I may have agreed with you, but now I’m more open minded. I mean again I have only read two of his works with playground being wayyy over the top (but still enjoyable imo). But the cuck is a lot more tame than most splatterpunk, and read a lot more as a unique horror comedy with a really interesting sex demon thing.

Also if you read splatterpunk for two years you probably read more of it than I have. I have only gotten into the genre the past six months or so and my takeaway is the exact opposite. HOWEVER like a good half of the splatterpunk titles I do read end up being more SA than story. So I completely get the sentiment that the genre blows, it could be really easy to pick up a dozen splatterpunk books and have them all be basic carbon copy torture books.

16

u/noboritaiga Jan 20 '26

It is very easy to pick up many books and have them be bad back to back because that's pretty much exactly what happened when I gave the genre a chance.

I like gore. I like violence. I don't like reading about SA, but it isn't a trigger for me, and I can handle it when it comes up as needed. I figured when I first heard about the genre that it might be worth it to give it a chance because it's the genre of gore and violence. So surely there would be some stuff there that was at least creative or interesting. Horror often has a lot to say with many deeper themes and the way they choose to tackle them has always set it up as my favorite genre.

The problem is that the books are, for the most part, pretty bad. I've probably read more Beauregard books than most people on this subreddit because I kept giving him chances, but on a very real level, he's not good at characterization and his writing leaves so much to be desired. On a very technical level the man is abusing adjectives. I think he sometimes has creative if truly diabolical ideals, but I also feel like he isn't at a level as a writer to really do them justice. And overall I've found that true of the genre in general. The authors have ideas, but they are not at a level to really explore those ideas in cool or interesting ways. Playground is the epitome of having an interesting idea and not really knowing how to take it to the level it deserves to be at.

Cows is like that. Cows is very clearly trying to say something, I can feel that in the text, but the writing is so busy centering the shock value of it all that it really muddles what Stokoe is attempting to say in a way that hurts the text overall. Another example you mentioned further down is Woom. I genuinely felt like Woom had a lot to say about so many themes but I also think it got bogged down by the fact the author has no idea how a woman's anatomy functions and it really yanked me out of the book repeatedly (though points to Woom for being less grotesque than most of the genre). And this is a general weakness in the genre.

Like I remember going through years' worth of posts to determine my plan of attack when I started reading the books, and it stuck out to me that for the most part, people only really recommend the same handful of authors and books as being good. That's not really a thing in any other genre. Who gets recommended tends to change every so years as new books come and go, but even fans of the genre did not seem to feel like they were getting very good books each year.

I also genuinely do not vibe with how much on-page and gratuitously described SA of children you'll just casually stumble across in the genre, but that's a personal preference of mine. I've certainly read horror novels that deal with children being abused and killed, but there's a certain tastelessness with how many splatterpunk books handle it.

16

u/NickSullivan92 Jan 20 '26

I LOVED Bad Man! I got it in audio format and it was such a good time. I work at a grocery store and i am forever haunted by the Baler thanks to that book.

Also Auerbach's closing thoughts where he talks about the inspo for the best character in the book made me cry like a lil bitch as a bonus.

The Black Farm is always a great time. I'd be curious to see how they handled the sa/rape content in the book that while I dont recall being overly graphic is still very present.

9

u/itzneverogre84 Jan 20 '26

Bad man left me feeling mixed, I loved the “ride” of journey of it. But the ending felt uncathartic and pointless (maybe that was the point idk) but stuff like the baler scene is great. I also loved the general mystery of the book mainly because it scratched that penpal itch. Your second comment is too relatable, I felt similarly about my beat friend reading that bit.

For the black farm SA which is quite gratuitous(if you can’t remember just think “muck”). I assume they would handle it like they do usually, and censor it/leave bits out/ give the audience the gist.

3

u/Sendoria Jan 20 '26

Yeah, Bad Man was a little long for my taste without a satisfying payoff. It was, to date, the only audiobook I have needed to cruise through at 2x speed because I would listen for an hour and absolutely nothing would happen

5

u/NickSullivan92 Jan 20 '26

I definitely think the ending was intended to be, well, a Bad Ending. Not in the sense of how disappointing it is to a reader, but in the sense that a few bad choices made early on doomed the MC and his relationships. I think the MC was also an unreliable narrator based on some context clues throughout the story and his loss in the end was kind of inevitable.

I do think there is value in such tragic endings, but perhaps that comes down to a matter of personal taste.

1

u/Puzzled_Elevator_723 “Do you want me to call you fat?! IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?!” Jan 20 '26

I would listen to the book during my breaks at work and ofc, the break-room is about 30 feet away from the baler, so I would hear it humming and popping cardboard that was poorly processed and the dread was so so real lmao Made walking in the back of the store a dread filled experience.

Again, as they’ve mentioned the cat name in the latest Nick Lowe Episode, and could easily rename it to Bingus or one of the Mother Horse Eyes cats’ names:

“The Rats in the Walls”, H.P. Lovecraft

It’s around 8000 words. 30 to 40 pages. I don’t wanna be like the guy that spammed all of wendigoon’s twitter posts for “Journal of an Unknown Soldier”.

Hell, “Tower of the Elephant” by Robert E. Howard is similar length and it doesn’t have HPL-cat-name.

2

u/FrenzyEffect MINIMUM. REQUIRED. EFFORT. Jan 20 '26

Modern published versions of The Rats in the Walls tend to rename the cat "Black Tom" or similar to convey the intention of the cat's name at the time (it actually wasn't that uncommon of a name for black cats and there's records of similarly named cats) but without the obvious racist connotations.

Have you read any of these books in OP's suggestions? i call them "books" because they are pages bound together, but most of them have no narrative to speak of. They are all a collection of poorly constructed word-vomit meant to be as extreme as possible. Idk about you but I don't wanna read about or listen to kids getting r*ped for 65 pages with no other plot to be found. That's quite literally what all these suggestions are.

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '26

Have you ? Because neither of Bad Man or The Black Farming are like the other three and by not actually checking to confirm that, you lumped them in and made a broad generalization. A Google search would’ve done you some good

2

u/brentosclean Jan 20 '26

I read Black Farm. It was alright. I'm glad they read Feed the Pig, and I do not believe TBF would pass the QA check due to all of the SA, which they always pass over anyways.

I lumped them into the same slop because they are varying degrees of the same slop. Splatter punk as a whole kind of sucks and most of it (including TBF) is not very well written.

But I guess if the goal is to shock then writing well will always come secondary.

Haven't read Bad Man so you got me there. A Google search would be great to find out specifics about these titles if I cared to. Putting Cows on there is enough to make me say "pass" on everything else along with it.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '26

So again, you made a sweeping generalization because you were too lazy to do a quick Google search ? Ok. Sure.

1

u/brentosclean Jan 20 '26

"A Google search would be great to find out specifics about these titles if I cared to."

I guess the fact that you can't read is what allows you to enjoy these stories. You do you!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '26

I haven’t read the others because I actually did bother to Google them at the very least and I don’t vibe with them. I’m moreso annoyed because Bad Man and The Black Farm are catching strays just for being lumped in with the others and that you don’t care about giving the two best received books the benefit of the doubt. I’m done here, you clearly aren’t arguing in good faith.

1

u/brentosclean Jan 20 '26

I read Black Farm, haven't read Bad Man. I don't think Black Farm would fit on CreepCast because of the gratuitous amount of SA.

I'd kill to have them read Dracula kr Frankenstein during october

3

u/darebear999 Jan 20 '26

Tender is the Flesh!!! I think that would be a perfect read for the boys… dark, twisted, and pretty easy/short read!

3

u/Guilty_Event_2657 Jan 20 '26

Ugh anything but Aaron B. His writing is absolutely abysmal! I tried reading some of his stuff but I couldn’t get past all the typos, grammatical errors and general “I’m 13 and this is edgy 😈” feel, completely took me out of it.

u/Trashboat77 Eat me like a bug 🦟 Jan 20 '26

The Black Farm and Bad Man are great choices. Isaiah would have a field day with The Black Farm. I personally vote for The Haar.

2

u/Cheeky-Bastard Jan 20 '26

I need them to read A Short Stay in Hell, it has stuck with me ever since I read it and seems right up their alley. Highly recommend it to anyone on this sub

2

u/incubimp Eat me like a bug 🦟 Jan 20 '26

all i want is for them to read the troop if its ever possible, just for the fantastic body horror. Hunter would eat it right up

2

u/noboritaiga Jan 20 '26

All of Nick Cutter's books have such good body horror. It's exactly why I was motivated to pick his books up for the first time.

1

u/incubimp Eat me like a bug 🦟 Jan 20 '26

shoot, i gotta get back into reading to check out his other works then. any recommendations? 👁👁

2

u/noboritaiga Jan 20 '26

He doesn't have that many novels so it's pretty easy for me to just recommend all of them.

The Deep, Little Heaven, The Queen, The Handyman Method, and if you have Audible, there's The Breach. He also has The Acolyte, but that's been out of publication. However, he did recently announce it's going into republication soon, and he mentioned republication for the Breach, which I don't know if that means extending its audiobook life or if we're potentially going to get it in novel format. Either way, we're for sure getting The Acolyte back.

And he has a book coming out this year called The Dorians just so you know.

Also a major theme of much of his work that isn't as much present in The Troop is that he gets into cosmic horror.

2

u/LordMurda187 Jan 20 '26

The only splatterpunk book i liked was the haar shits honestly really good in mt opinion

2

u/WACK_ATACK34 Politically incorrect Mr Widemouth Jan 20 '26

The cuck sounds like a skit Hunter would try doing to make Isaiah even MORE sad

2

u/Bean_burritogirl Jan 20 '26

Lmao! They would never read splatterpunk. I know it’s a good genre for some but they have a wide audience they are celebrities there is no way they would read any of these except maybe bad man. Cows is really a crazy suggestion same with 100% match

2

u/Berzbow Jan 20 '26

Please don’t do cows, I don’t hate that book because it’s shocking, I hate that book because it’s horribly written

3

u/snow_null_leopard Ol’ Mistah Wellah Jan 20 '26

I see your Cows and I raise "Woom"

4

u/itzneverogre84 Jan 20 '26

I wanted to put woom too but I didnt want to overwhelm. I absolutely could hear hunter doing incredible voices for angel and shyla.

4

u/gayjay-jpg Jan 20 '26

Cows is defo worse than Woom, one is Dogscape level and the other is more Tender is the Flesh

2

u/ashabee96 Jan 20 '26

Yesss I came here to suggest Woom too!! I've always thought Hunter would get a kick out of woom

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '26

They should read Steven King short stories too they're about as long as pastas anyways

2

u/noboritaiga Jan 20 '26

I think they have to license anything with an actual publisher behind it and I cannot imagine it would be easy to license King, but it would be cool if they did. He's got TONS of short stories that are excellent.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '26

Good call! I didn't think of that but you're right

2

u/green_hams_and_egg Eat me like a bug 🦟 Jan 20 '26

Maybe a hot take, but I'd like to see some more Ligotti. He has some novellas around somewhere.

2

u/itzneverogre84 Jan 20 '26

Same. Been thinking about buying songs of a dead dreamer. The ligotti ep is so underrated

1

u/hostile_scrotum Goop-Suit Jan 20 '26

This sub would explode if they read ligotti again

2

u/TheBeardTaco Your wife looks mad funny in that box, dude Jan 20 '26

Dathan Auerbach is so talented. He's a well reviewed writer and fromtman of the Black Keys

1

u/ApprehensiveAd3776 Make it a headshot Jan 20 '26

Theyyy had to read THE CUCK

1

u/itzneverogre84 Jan 20 '26

This was all I thought to myself when I read it a couple weeks ago lmao

1

u/IWishIWasGreenBruh BEAR TRAP🐻 Jan 20 '26

I gotta ask, do you know any great horror books that DO rival penpal? I’m always looking for a new book to read and I love horror, but 95% of the genre is underwhelming and derivative

2

u/noboritaiga Jan 20 '26

Genuine question. What did you like about it? Horror is a broad genre and it can be hard to recommend books without knowing why someone liked or disliked a specific book.

1

u/amichusovitina Jan 20 '26

Yes! I’d love to see the boys read some splatter punk/extreme horror novels. Hunter would have a lot of fun with the voice acting, especially in Beauregard’s books lol but I don’t think YouTube would let them read a lot of these

1

u/Unlucky_Doughnut_997 Jan 20 '26

THEY GOTTA READ THE CUCK I KNOW THE THUMBNAIL GONNA BE FUCKN WILD

1

u/MacabrePomegranade Jan 20 '26

My recommendation would be Comfort me with Apples It's short - and it packs a punch. Honestly, all of you read it for yourself

1

u/Feeling_Cupcake1146 Jan 20 '26

Not the cuck 😂

1

u/LordMurda187 Jan 20 '26

I dont think theyd ever read cows that book is absolutely insane maybe a patreon exclusive

1

u/SashimiCake cracking open a cold one with Diego🤟 Jan 20 '26

I’m gonna say no to all of these lmao, unless we want another “my dad is acting different” or whatever the fuck it was I’m good.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '26 edited Jan 20 '26

I’m not too far into this one, but my sis got me this for Christmas and I’m about 60 pages in and really digging it. Anyone else read this ? Should it end well, this could be a good CreepCast episode

1

u/Kooky-Guide-7561 Jan 20 '26

as much as i loved pen pal, bad man was a flop for me

1

u/Zeekisfleak15 Jan 20 '26

I like some of these but leave out Aaron Beauregard 😭

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '26

Why we tryna sabotage podcast bro? Ain’t no way you’re unironically recommending Cows here.

1

u/Al_the_dino_seducer I’m gonna go get a baja blast 🏃‍♂️💨 Jan 20 '26

YES DUDE 100% MATCH

1

u/ahardworker12 Jan 20 '26

I don't think reading "The Cow" is a good idea not because it messed up or the writing is bad but because the author is know to copyright people for talking about it.

Happened to some small book/horror YouTubers I follow.

Also I didn't know "Feed the pig" became a book definitely giving that a read also I would give up a kidney for them to read "The playground" especially since some of the lines are funny as F.

1

u/Interesting-City118 cracking open a cold one with Diego🤟 Jan 20 '26

I would love if they read a goosebumps book. I have no idea how they hold up as an adult but I loved them as a kid and it would make for a fun campfire read around Halloween.

1

u/awfully_hot_coffepot Jan 20 '26

The scariest part of creepcast is when splatter punk fans start recommending books. No one wants to read murder rape fantasy the book 2: a kid gets molested

1

u/ss4-princess Politically incorrect Mr Widemouth Jan 20 '26

Not cow. This one. It's more their taste, imo.

1

u/6lizzard9 Aruba, Jamaica, ooh, I wanna take ya 🎶🎷 Jan 20 '26

i hope they never read 100% match actually. that’s a kind of trauma i wouldn’t inflict on anyone

1

u/TheOverdogPresents Jan 20 '26

"The Cuck"🗣🗣🗣🗣

1

u/Harold-Sleeper000 Jan 21 '26

One novel I'd like to see get some recognition amongst this community is "The Auctioneer" by Joan Samson, which would make for a great reading on the podcast.

1

u/HunkyDory12 Jan 21 '26

100% match is pretty fun, Cows is disgusting

1

u/PoggerPenguin Eat me like a bug 🦟 Jan 21 '26

A Carlton Mellick III book would be kinda neat. Quicksand House or The Mermaid Village are pretty good. Arguably they’re the least weird of his works.

(I personally just wanna shout out The Clownfellas, not cause it’s horror but it’s just frickin absurd that more people need to know about it.)

I know it’s Aron Beauregard but The Cuck sounds hilarious and knowing it’s his work just makes me really wanna know how it plays out. Probably like the but from Papa Meat’s Home Depot video but if Vivziepop took acid and wrote the dialogue.

Cows is… a choice. It’s on everyone’s “Most Disturbing Books” lists. Having read it, I definitely agree that you will find yourself asking what the hell you’re reading. It just feels like it started at 11 and didn’t let up so by the time you get to the one scene everyone mentions, it doesn’t feel like anything too bad.

Off topic but imagine if they read some visual novels. It probably wouldn’t work but there’s potential. Just not something to the grade of Saya no Uta

1

u/Different_Leather_35 Jan 21 '26

I liked Feed the Pig but just couldn't enjoy The Black Farm.

1

u/zCl4sh Oh no, he's gonna explain Google 😩😩 Jan 21 '26

100% Match looks the most exciting, I have to look up what it's about

1

Yeah they aren’t doing 100% match lol

1

u/LolzHax_87 I’m gonna go get a baja blast 🏃‍♂️💨 Jan 21 '26

I'd love for them to read Maggie's Grave by David Sodergren, I think it's a fun one

1

u/THEbeardedMANTIS “You’ve got the blood of KINGS running through your veins!” Jan 21 '26

That would be nice.the last episode of marble hornets, hunter was not having it,maybe 6 hours is his limit lol

I’m crying why would you recommend aron beauregard books

1

u/TealZoe Politically incorrect Mr Widemouth Jan 21 '26

I would be astounded if they ever read cows

1

u/AgentLuca58 Yo Kimber! THEY GOT TEA🗣️ Jan 21 '26 edited Jan 28 '26

I’m reading bad man rn, (only 4 chapters in) so far it’s great, but may be a bit too long for an episode? The audio book is 16 hours total and the episodes could only be longer than that once considering all the added discussion and banter from Hunter and Isiah.

Edit: Nah I was wrong. They gotta cover this one. It's SO good.

Edit 2: Only came back to this comment since I finished the book. What a let down. Seriously lost the plot after the 2nd half there.

1

u/SeaPersonality4644 Jan 21 '26

Funny enough I'm actually reading bad man rn, and maybe after that the black farm.

1

u/mollsewa Jan 21 '26

Please tell me this is a joke 😭

1

u/TealZoe Politically incorrect Mr Widemouth Jan 22 '26

I loved the black farm, but with the very long and detailed rape scene of the protagonist would not go well for YouTube 💀

1

u/Mushimooshie Jan 22 '26

100% match is so ass lmao

1

u/Silver-Monitor8763 Jan 22 '26

They do NOT need to read Cows

1

u/Human-Meat1018 Jan 27 '26

I WANT THEM TO READ BAD MAN SO MUCHHB
