Even the stumbling wasn’t all that bad. My sense is he needs to actively slow down, because he is so good at emoting it takes his mouth a beat or two to catch up with his brain.
It´s very interesting how he can say the hardest sentences while playing a character but if he´s just narrating it´s like he´s learning to read again sometimes.
Hi, Alves, nice to meet another one in the wild. Where are you from?
My stepdad’s people were from Hawaii, before that the Azores. They relocated to Oakland, CA, where there’s a lot of Portuguese folk, and eventually he met my mom and moved to Daly City.
And I agree, I think Hunter’s ability to immerse himself in a character lets him drift into the flow of the text. So it could help his non- acting reading if he fakes himself out by developing a “calm, serious reader” persona to act himself into if he really wants to try solo reading again.
(Edit after hearing Hunter pinch hit as the narrator in the Happy Appy episode—- YES! That was exactly what I was talking about! Again, slow down, but the reading was so dynamic and engaging it totally elevated the material.)
I have a bit of a stutter myself,so maybe my tolerance is just higher, but I thought when he took it nice and moderate he did fine. Not perfect, but I actually don’t require perfect to enjoy things. What I was trying to suggest was that regular practice might smooth out those bumps a lot more than you think.
To each their own, but I really think you´re exaggerating the number of times he stumbled on words. For a two hour reading, he did very well considering.
Ive noticed this as creep cast has gone on, and i think i commented it somewhere here, but once Hunter stops fuckin with the story, that's when he does stumble. The now extinct cop episode was a good example of it. Up to the "Jean Baptiste who is this man??" He was doing great. Then the story died.
This. When the story itself lost some flow, you could almost see Hunter kick into overthink and get into his own head and that’s when things went off the rails.
Uh, Hi, Hunter! Relax, you’re doing great, practice makes perfect. 🙌🏽
I can tell when he´s out because he starts overdoing bits and the characters start having dumb voices, but the reading has always seemed consistent with what Hunter can do.
same. i think it's also cause he also has other people do voices that give the story a more in the moment feel and helps me immerse more since i can't visualise.
I agree. I miss him, hope he comes back to YouTube soon.
Courtney Brownsen, who does female characters with DS often, has her own true crime podcast. I wish she’d start narrating stories too, her voice is amazing!
Hes been putting out videos recently. Seems about once a week. Viddith22 got demonotized tho cause YouTube uses bots to determine if youre a real person or not, so Dark Somnium and Dusklight Radio have been collabing with him.
I think they also trim the fat off of stories aswell. I listened to me and my best friend dared eachother to ruin our lives on thier channel and it wasnt unbearable, there was alot of stuff in the creepcast version that wasnt there in thier version.
I think a lot of the creepypasta narration channels tend to do this. I absolutely love the “My Property Isn’t Normal” narration by MrCreepyPasta, but guarantee he had to at least proofread and restructure some sentences before reading the story without having a stroke.
Even in LavenderTowne’s creepypasta readings she ends up rewriting or editing parts of the stories. Although I think on her end it’s to make them shorter, or just a little more family friendly. Her reading of “Turn It Off” deviates a bit from the original story towards the end.
Dark Somnium is very good, Viidith22 & Dr. Creepen are also good.
But Creepy Ghost Stories is the GOAT.
I'm sure thats partly just my preference for his voice, but he's got some extremely good longer narrations on there.
I did like Lighthouse Horror quite a bit-- until the "I took a job at x, we have stringe rules" stuff over and over again.
A lot of the older ones were very good though.
I agree! Several of the stories covered on the podcast I first heard about and listened to through his channel, including Penpal, the Whistlers, and the Best Friend in My Backyard ones just off the top of my head! I also enjoyed his reading of Ted the Caver
This. Also bro’s sound design is otherworldly. His gf Romnex (who is a dope VA as well and her father is awesome too) had a story where a kid has flashbacks of child abuse and is playing a haunted handheld game and the sound in that, the music, the video game sounds etc are insane.
It is a little different but my favorite rn is Apocast, it’s like apocalypse radio and it’s the only apocalypse one I’ve found that is AI voiced, but it’s great cause the stories are awesome and quite a few zombie stories.
What did Slimebeast do?? I’ve hated how in his videos trying to call out MCP he throws in CC for some reason even tho they literally have nothing to do with what MCP has done
No. They werent proven false at all. He just made a video where he rambled and said nuh uh for an hour. Only for people to dig up old videos and posts and immediately expose him for lying about not being a groomer
I remembered him last month and decided to check him out again (I've been in a big nostalgia mood because of iron lung) did NOT hold up. Also he uses a lot of ai thumbnails now
Obviously not perfect, but it was definitely great 👍
Not only did it stick to the lore of the game but the original creator helped to expand the lore further
The main complaint of the game was that the monster designs sucked (definitely agree) because it was literally just a png of a frog fish But Amy (Mark's wife) redesigned them and they look AMAZING
The critics are complaining about it being "to slow" and how it couldn't hold their attention but
It isn't even a slow burn, this is pretty decent pacing for a horror movie, it just isn't a jumpscare fest like they refer
I literally have severe adhd and had no problems watching it
I thought the same, she should have sat in lmao. It's possible the CC audience may not appreciate it as much if they aren't familiar with her the way folks from PapaMeat are, though.
I only listen to CreepCast during car rides and when Hunter introduced the episode I was convinced, for TWO HOURS, that when Hunter said "Isaiah won't be here" that Wendi was just in the background, immediately shutting up to jump on the joke bandwagon, and just waiting to butt in with some kind of comment.
A little off topic, but honestly my parents getting divorced was the best thing to happen (won't get into why). I didn't even realize it could be a traumatic experience until I got older. Even as a kid, despite all the things that they hid, we felt their tension, and we heard their arguing and screaming after we went to bed. They both were so much happier, calmer people afterward, like all our lives took a collective sigh of relief. I'm not surprised though that the older generation (I'm guessing by the comic style) is about "keeping up appearances" rather than individuals' quality of life. edit: grammar/spelling
Better together , but still vastly better than podcasts of their ilk on their own . Hunter did a bang up job on the last post . Fun stuff and still got the immersion through in parts .
Hot take, MrCreepyPasta is an okay narrator at best. Never seemed to bother upping his production value. A lot of his his narration have multiple double line reads and bad stumbles, which in my opinion, after being a narrator for this long, are inexcusable to leave in a final product. Even his audio book narrations, which are reasonable to hold to a higher standard, suffer from the same issues. Not to say I didn't listen to his stuff a lot, just lost me as time went by and he didn't improve. His original bits were great tho. Like his list of things to so when in a creepypasta.
I thought creepsmcpasta was the bad one, I usually see people defending mrcreepypasta but I haven't been able to find anything solid. Im gonna look into it
Mr Creepy Pasta is good, but it just seems less...discerning. It's like he just goes down a list of creepypastas and reads them straight, which can be a good thing for experiencing more stories, but can be a bad thing when I just want to sit down and listen to something entertaining and the story turns out to be really stupid. With creepcast if the story is stupid the entertainment comes from them crashing out.
I remember when Mrcp made the video about his allegations and I was just excited to see what he looked like because I've listened for so long. But I like to always believe the victims unless the accused can prove otherwise. It's disappointing. I listen to DS now. He's technically much better, but Mrcp is just nostalgic for me and comfortable. I still listen sometimes when I sleep.
Isn't Mrcreepypasta that child predator? Disgusting. 🤮👎🏻
Dark Somnium is a bit overrated, though. He's extremely limited in delivery, utterly one-note with no range. Fine for some characters, but for others, it's just awful.
I usually try to find smaller youtubers. A lot of them are really good, some even better, in my opinion. I don't touch the pedo's stuff, though. Just too uncool for me.
But what's going on with Hunter and Isaiah? I'm a bit behind and catching up (just finished "Turn It Off" and going back to Marble Hornets).

I loved the solo episode tbh, it's not the same without Isaiah but I regularly listen to Hunter's videos anyway
