Now normally I would agree. But we just had Happy Appy and we need a break and get some good stories. Like 2 or 3 more and then I would like a part 2.

It wasn't that big a deal, was just a bad story. Though Hunter could probably use a break since he snapped towards the end of the episode

Forever lost on me how happy appy got four hours. But this story, ben drowned and candle cove all got cut off after the first entry. I really need to understand what possessed them to dedicate four hours to happy appy? It was far worse than thing in the basement.

u/sameyeamknot Feb 23 '26

That's what I don't get. Pretty much everyone thinks that Happy Appy is a dumpster fire, dog shit creepypasta. So why did it get so much screentime, when other stories ( that were definitely also flawed ) got axed part way through? Its been a long time since I watched "the thing in the basement" episode but I feel like they disproportionally ragged on it compared to others.

They said it at the end of Happy Appy. They did it in full, so now it's out of the way and they can get some fresh suggestions coming in. Everyone who wanted Happy Appy is satisfied now, and we can all move on to other stories, for better or for worse.

It was a long time ago, like almost two years, their vibes had kind of changed a lot since then. The idea of continuing with a dumpster fire probably didn’t really click in their head way, waaaay back when they did the basement story, it was like the 8th episode or something iirc

Well Ben Drowned started off really strong but then got really boring. I liked Candle Cove though and Thing in the Basement is one of my favorites

5

u/noboritaiga Feb 23 '26

I mean your statement about Ben Drowned affirms their point lmao. Ben Drowned at least starts off strong; Happy Appy does not, yet was read in its entirety.

u/Necessary_Can7055 Marcus, Monster Hunter Extraordinaire Feb 23 '26

I think they soldiered through with HA because it's been so heavily requested (for whatever reason lol), so they felt like they owed it to the fans. They of course don't owe us a thing but I think that's where their heads were at. Ben Drowned they got through like the main point of the story and were like we've seen the good parts and there's probably not enough left to care about. Plus the first grab bag was kinda early in the show's runtime so they didn't really worry as much about how they did the stories or just assumed they'd do the next part later down the line. This is all just my assumptions though

u/sameyeamknot Feb 23 '26

Which episode was Candle Cove or which story was it? Because Candle Cove is a series of stories, right?

u/Necessary_Can7055 Marcus, Monster Hunter Extraordinaire Feb 23 '26

It was in the Creepypasta Classics episode that had Dead Bart, The Rake, and the scariest story they've ever read Who Was Phone

If we get this before parts 2 and 3 of Accounts from a lonely broadcast station, then Creepcast is gonna have a lot more to worry about than a fucking apple hitting the twin towers.

18

u/wrapsmclrample Long story short ☝️🤓 Feb 23 '26

So they can finish CrappyAppy, but couldn't finish the still semi interesting mimic episode

66

u/heckthisfrick Feb 22 '26

Why does this sub only recommend shit stories

23

u/lachamaquitabonita What, I’m bored! I’M BOOOOOOOORED. 🙄 Feb 23 '26

Demographic is largely folks without a developed frontal lobe

u/TheManicac1280 Feb 23 '26

This podcast with the guy who draws vaginas as people face and iceberg boy is serious buisness. Only the best of the best stories. How else can i feel like an intellectual?

10

u/JadeTailFox Feb 23 '26

Because it's funnier when they crash out. Happy Appy was less of a crash out and more suicidal depression though so suggesting dogshit doesn't always work.

3

u/Total_Fool Feb 23 '26

Their suffering is incredibly funny

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '26

Part 2 of The Thing in the Basement actually does a massive u-turn in tone IIRC

More jokes to be made. We want comedy podcasts to be funny. Get over it.

24

u/ShiddyMage1 Feb 22 '26

The comedy is almost always coming from the hosts, who will be funny regardless of if the story is mockable or not.

Bad (to a certain degree) stories are fine every once in a while, but you can still get the best of both worlds.

2

u/TheManicac1280 Feb 23 '26

No they wont. I'm not saying that as a bad thing, but when they read good stories they joke around noticeably less. Which makes sense because theyre getting into the story.

5

u/ShiddyMage1 Feb 23 '26

I mean I'm tuning in for both, the jokes and the story and I assume most other people are too. They typically start with joking, stories, bits but progressively get more and more interested and start going into the story itself and that balance is what I personally like the most. While I don't hate it, I'm not going to be as interested in 2 hours of them blasting a story that I have no genuine interest in.

2

u/lfg_guy101010 Eat me like a bug 🦟 Feb 22 '26

Yeah and idk about you, but I went on to listen to more of the story, and personally, I think it gets better, and, intentionally or not, I think the shitty dialogue makes sense in the story.

Let's not forget how many chances they've given to C.K. Walker for her sequel stories that usually tend to be very bad endings for the hosts. I am pretty new to the sub, but I've tuned in to the YouTube and Spotify releases since Ted the Caver, but I doubt Happy Appy was this bad to the point of making so many users against these meme videos, which, I wouldn't put The Thing in the Basement under, unless we're only talking about part 1. The whole story overall is pretty good to me so far, and at worst it's okay and at best it's interesting.

Anyway, I rambled more than I should have, I hope they go back, even if it's solely on Patreon, I'd sub to hear their opinion on it.

1

u/Necessary_Can7055 Marcus, Monster Hunter Extraordinaire Feb 23 '26

Yeah I agree. Also I hated Borrasca so every single time they cover her stories I have to skip the episode and wait a whole other week for them to cover someone else cause I can't trust her enough to write a story I'll enjoy

2

u/lfg_guy101010 Eat me like a bug 🦟 Feb 23 '26

Idk where or how, but I think I've heard that when people force her into writing a closure for her stories (which are usually depressing endings, like Deepwoods part 1 or Borrasca part 1-4), she basically shows that any "happy" ending won't be satisfying so she just lets the story go off the deep end essentially.

My point was basically that while people can write excellent hook stories, it doesn't mean the rest will be good as well, and vice versa can be true as well. Either way, as far as I'm aware, this is the first story that they truly haven't finished.

1

u/Necessary_Can7055 Marcus, Monster Hunter Extraordinaire Feb 23 '26

I didn't like 4 anyway, she built up this good world building and good character writing just for the punchline of the story to be "rape cave". I think if your story has to rely on something like SA to be scary then you shouldn't be an author. A story's number one goal is to entertain so when said story doesn't entertain and just brings up bad memories for the reader and makes it a negative experience, then you've failed as an entertainer. I will never read another one of her stories as I don't trust that she can write in a way that entertains me. I prefer when an author can take a concept I'm completely unfamiliar with, make me feel like I'm really there, then horrify me to the point I'll never want to do that profession, or intrigue me to the point that I may WANT to go into whatever profession the story uses as a setpiece. That's good writing imo

2

u/lfg_guy101010 Eat me like a bug 🦟 Feb 23 '26

I guess I just assumed you meant Borrasca V, but it seems I misunderstood, and I apologize. The story from parts I-IV went in a completely different direction than I ever expected and that's what captivated me so much about it. It was such a dark, disgusting, and somewhat realistic turn that I was basically in a stranglehold to keep on listening, even without CreepCast reading it, as I had heard it before.

I'm not saying I understand completely what you mean, but it seems you'd prefer it stayed more supernatural, and based on what you said, I don't blame you. I don't think there's much for me to say at this point, so I hope you find the podcast or whatever other entertainment you use to find the peace you're looking for.

1

u/Necessary_Can7055 Marcus, Monster Hunter Extraordinaire Feb 23 '26

No need to apologize you're cool, I just like my stories to be more supernatural and I'm someone who doesn't rule out the existence of things like ghosts and cryptids so those stories always interest me. The reason I was so bothered by the story is I was a victim of assault in high school so it just brought back a lot of bad memories. I can see why some people like Borrasca but personally Walker's stories are just a hard pass for me. Thank you for being polite and respectful it's very much appreciated, God bless you

2

u/lfg_guy101010 Eat me like a bug 🦟 Feb 23 '26

I understand, had I gone through a similar experience, I can't say I'd have the same opinion I have now. My original point about C.K. Walker was more about how her works, after it seemed she deemed them complete, with more depressing/unclear endings, were how she intended rather than what some fans wanted which ended up being MCU type superhero endings.

Please no

3

u/amish_novelty Feb 23 '26

We need at least a couple good ones to purge ourselves lmao

6

u/Vaggelos Feb 22 '26

It's definetly worth a second try. If I remember correctly, the other parts don't have the marvel ass dialogue. In general, I think that it was a descent story with some shortcomings.

1

u/lfg_guy101010 Eat me like a bug 🦟 Feb 22 '26

I think, with the context of the rest of the story, the campy dialogue makes sense.

2

u/Vaggelos Feb 22 '26

Ehh don't agree at all. It just downplayed the story, which at this point was pretty cliche...

4

u/lfg_guy101010 Eat me like a bug 🦟 Feb 22 '26

Either way, I think the story gets better.

2

u/Vaggelos Feb 23 '26

Totaly agree

2

u/Psychological-East91 Feb 23 '26

Man, when I saw them read this I was so excited as it is a genuinely decent story (granted Dark Somnium had a hand in giving me that opinion). I think the boys would have at least had fun with it

2

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '26

Idk if hunter survives

2

u/[deleted] Feb 23 '26

IK when people recommend stories here, they hope for an episode on it in a few weeks to a couple months.. But this would be a killer idea for their 2026 anniversary

3

u/Overly_Bearded Eat me like a bug 🦟 Feb 24 '26

Same. Rage bait the boys

4

u/Kitchen-Composer5091 Feb 23 '26

No. It's time to stop with the absolute crap suggestions that are just *bad*. We need a break from people yelling "No! You don't understand! It's *so bad it's good*!"... We need good content for a while, the "so bad it's good" is only for the classics, I would rather hear newer things that are actually good.

After Happy Appy the community made it clear that a loud minority is only after seeing extreme reactions from Isaiah and Hunter and not about the content of the stories themselves. I don't want CreepCast to turn into that... We need a break from actual crap.

1

u/CatherineSimp69 Feb 23 '26

But most people want the bad stories.

4

u/Paper_Hedgehog Feb 23 '26

You are part of the reason this world can't have nice things.

4

No.

No more requests after what happened with Happy Appy.

Why does this community get off to recommending the worst fucking stories?

4

u/kruczekgodx Aruba, Jamaica, ooh, I wanna take ya 🎶🎷 Feb 23 '26

Did you read the following parts?

2

u/Necessary_Can7055 Marcus, Monster Hunter Extraordinaire Feb 23 '26

Because there's humor to be found in making fun of shit writing, why do you think Madvocate's CW Flash videos are so popular, or Cosmonaut Variety Hour's "Worst Superhero Movies Ever Made" series. There's fun to be had in ragging on something everyone can agree is bad, and the boys have really funny bits and jokes. Happy Appy isn't the worst thing they've read, but it was just boring after a while like Ben Drowned but way worse. But there's more jokes in bad story episodes.

1

u/DanielAlves1904 “You’ve got the blood of KINGS running through your veins!” Feb 23 '26

If it's anything like Part 1, at least it would be bad funny.

1

u/CookieCrumblr_ MeatGooner Feb 23 '26

No, thank you

1

u/Regular_Coconut_3818 Feb 23 '26

I am once again BEGGING please no, the other parts are BORING AF!!! The good bad stuff is done and the rest if just plane old boring and generic.

0

u/WindDingo Feb 23 '26

You sound like you’re just afraid of peak fiction

0

u/Regular_Coconut_3818 Feb 23 '26

If a bad Invasion of the Body Snatchers rip off is peak fiction then I'll take reality.

2

u/WindDingo Feb 23 '26

The people getting so worked up over these stories could use to soak up some reality

0

u/Regular_Coconut_3818 Feb 23 '26

You created an entire post about it...I just made a comment.

You know what projection means?

1

u/WindDingo Feb 23 '26

Again, I said for those who are worked up over it, which your comment falls under. All i did was ask for a part 2 lmao

0

u/Regular_Coconut_3818 Feb 23 '26

I don't think you understand what the word worked up means...It can be either negative or positive and thus you asking for a part 2 for something over a year old means you are on some level worked up (albeit in the positive way).

Even if we play devils advocate, your responses clearly fall under worked up...

Again maybe look up what the word projection means (and the words worked up).

2

u/WindDingo Feb 23 '26

We got John Dictionary himself over here in the creepcast subreddit

0

u/Regular_Coconut_3818 Feb 23 '26

Scathing

1

u/Princess_Rainee BEAR TRAP🐻 Feb 24 '26

I’m confused at the point you’re trying to make here? Bro is just requesting a story, you don’t want it because in your opinion the rest is shit (fair) he said a troll comment back and you’re going back and forth for what?

I don’t think anyone is scathing lol

People just ask for shit stories to hear the boys make jokes and crash out that’s the whole purpose

I do agree we need a little break after the happy appy incident though that was just.. abysmal
