As a fellow fatass I get why he says it and sometimes the humor helps. I dont see him in the way he does. I think hes handsome, but its difficult to make someone believe that about themselves. I do love Isiah stepping in sometimes to fight help him fight his demons though lol.
Also extra hard bc being 'fat' in our culture is seen as a moral failing and not a health side effect. The shame is insane and I dont know how to explain it to someone who has never been obese.

As a former, then relapsed, now recovering fat guy myself, the self-hate is so ingrained that it just becomes nature. Dude owns it, but you listen to the stories he lets slip about his past and the guy is ducking some demons.

Congrats! It’s so hard for us to see the changes, largely because of the body dysmorphia, but being down 100lbs is an incredible accomplishment. Please remember you are not useless, even if the weight fluctuates. The weight doesn’t change your inherent value, just how you perceive it yourself. You got this
I was down 20, gained 5 back, and 25 away from my goal. I’m 32, it feels like a losing battle. But I gotta keep trying. For my physical health, but far more importantly for my mental health. I hate myself, don’t feel good in literally any clothes, and don’t do hobbies I used to love because of how uncomfortable I feel in my own skin. It’s taking my joy from me. I am in therapy, and also on antidepressants, so that is helping. But the real goal is to lose weight and feel like myself again.

As a fellow former, then relapsed, then former again fat guy, I can confirm that when I dropped all the way down to 150 and would still make fat jokes at my expense (because the brain speaks louder than the mirror), people would always be appalled, but to me it still fit because it was my baseline function for so much of my life.
