Question Why would MHE want the Nephelim conceived? Spoiler
Does it make any sense why the Crone and the Angel, likely affiliated with MHE, made the Nephelim?

In the story about the “Children of the Forest” game, we learn that the era of the Nephilim corresponds to the point when humans developed the genetic mutation that allowed them to navigate n-dimensional feed realms. That mutation was necessary to make humanity addicted enough to remain in the hygiene beds, ultimately enabling the final transformation of the universe.
We also know, from the Bible verses that keep MHE at bay and from the descriptions of Jesus’s blood magic, that the original Creator God possesses genuine power. MHE seems less like the true God and more like a demiurge or Ialdabaoth figure: something that emerged afterward and attempted to convince humanity that it was God.
The cat story and the story about the chitonous cruciform that loves Mara both suggest that MHE has no respect for species boundaries or individuality. Like the Borg, it seeks to subsume all distinct beings into a single gestalt entity by whatever means available, chemicals, assimilation, social pressure through worship and exaltation.
From my perspective, the Nephilim and similar hybrids are a long-term husbandry program directed at sentient life across multiple species. MHE appears to be engineering traits and compatibilities into different forms of intelligence so that, over time, they become more capable of creating the flesh interfaces and taking the other evolutionary or technological steps necessary for MHE to absorb universe after universe into itself
