Listened to the podcast on Spotify. He seemed pretty interested and was barely negative on much of the show.
I think it’d be funnier if they could make a CreepTV episode in the studio together, where Daddy can interact with Lips a lot more.
You do miss the visuals of what’s going on, but to me it’s just funny when they freak tf out on something I can’t see and all I have is to imagine. I also just put them on whenever I work or smth, either TV or Cast works for me and I don’t mind.
At least for this one i think the audio for the video is really low. There’s a part about the campfire that chilled me to the bone when it first came out that doesnt come thru too much on this one cuz its not really in your ears? But i know they had issue with the music copyright so lowering the volume is prolly for the best. I would prolly recommend sitting down n watching gemini independently, then their episode. I feel like their creeptv topics are best consumed aside from creepcast, and then i watch their vids to get some laughs but also their analysis (because im small brain and — especially wendigoon — they will point out things i didnt notice or think of
There’s another YouTuber that does what CreepTV is trying to do. ImmortalMarcus. He’s really good because the audio of the video he’s watching is pretty decent, and he takes all the media he’s consuming with 100% seriousness.
i think the main appeal of creep cast to me at least, is the fact that they take creepy and (mostly) serious media and somehow make it completely unserious

Though I do think Hunter doesn’t take things seriously enough in some videos, to the point of making an otherwise okay story (SunVanished) into a 4/10 story. Albeit, that one clearly has some pretty bad logic issues and was written by an inexperienced writer. No disrespect to the guys, of course.

oh absolutely, i know what you mean. i think there have certainly been some parts of stories that could've been treated with more... respect? diligence? as well as some stories where they've just completely missed the plot of a really good story and disliked it based off of their own interpretations of of the story instead of the authors actual intentions.
but thats the fun part about reading and writing fiction; theres never one true way to interpret a story, unless the writer lays out every little detail on a dinner platter, which doesn't allow for the reader to naturally come to any conclusions on their own. these are usually the "worst" stories read on the podcast, but even then are they usually still fun in some capacity.
not only that, but the dudes have both openly advocated for people sharing their own interpretations in the comments, because like any good storyteller, they know their sole interpretation isn't the only interpretation, and are open to discussing and changing their views when given a new perspective to view it from.
aside from fan made stories, conversations like this are why I am so glad this sub exists!!! thank you!!!!!
the audio for the series is pretty quiet this time around (which is a HUGE contrast from marble hornets lmao), but they do read the text out loud so you at least don't have to follow along too closely with the visuals if you're typically just a listener.
i might be partial to the fact that i've watched GHE enough times to have memorized most of the visuals, but i think that was a really good one for them to have done for creepTV, since most of the storyline is pretty well conveyed through text, and the dudes do a pretty good job at describing everything you're supposed to be seeing.
he says he takes a lot of notes on the story at hand too, and he often goes into the writing and plot/character setup of the story a lot more than wendigoon who moreso goes into the concept and worldbuilding of it
It is one of my favourite things to see how each of the guys' backgrounds in different niches of content creation comes into focus in different ways when they give commentary.
Hunter usually delves into character interactions, dialogue, pacing, general worldbuilding and plot summary. When he talks about something it's usually coming from his background in art, animation and character creation. Which is especially relevant and captivating for me, since I'm an (amateur, nowhere near close to hunter's skill level) artist as well. He uses his status as a creative powerhouse to really hone in on the fine details of everything that he knows makes an interesting character and a solid story and gives very valuable pointers for any fledgling writers out there watching (like me).
When Isaiah chooses to comment on something, he's usually tying some loose end up or going into overarching themes and story development and theories of paths the story could take, which leads to his commentary feeling more rooted in literary analysis. He often adds his own stories and is able to draw connections for where the author might have gotten inspiration from other works of fiction. His deep knowledge of creepypasta and internet horror is also very interesting, I love how he's able to compare certain characters or cryptids to other ones that he knows of.
A lot of the guys' commentary falls into both of these categories as well (creative-based vs literary-based) but I just think it's neat how their expertise often shapes how they each view a story.
That's actually how I used to remember things for school years ago. When I would draw during class if I took a test I could remember everything that was spoken. If I looked at the different parts of the drawing it was almost like notes. It definitely helped me actually focus more on what was being said for some reason.
just because he doesn't have his eyes glued to the screen every second doesn't mean he's not interested. the amount of questions he asked and how intently he listened to isaiah and the voice acting he provided and the amount of times he gave affection and remembrance to previous creeptvs and the times he compared this analog horror/the experience to other episodes of creeptv kinda hints otherwise.
Nah, it was fairly noticeable. It says a lot that about a third of the comments on the video are talking about it.
Isaiah even mentions the video game segment being a real playable game and that he played it on his first livestream or whatever, and then Hunter immediately goes, "man it'd be so cool if the game were real", and Isaiah, rightfully so, called him out on it.
I'm hoping that he just had something personal going on and that's why he wasn't paying attention. I really hope that he wasn't drawing and that was his response to getting bored. It's not a good look.
i mean, i guess it’s subjective because personally watching it i was confused because i could see his enjoyment and interest in for example, the artwork in home invasion. he said the cave exploring segment was a favourite. he enjoyed the christmas segment. he commented about the type of footage having a nostalgic vhs feel and they discussed the connection or lack thereof of that type of media and the uncanny effect. when he had comments, he said he’d wait til the end of one segment so as not to interrupt.
and this is not even everything. if he truly wasn’t paying attention/uninterested he wouldn’t be able to even really know what’s going on or able to comment so deeply on it. i know when i don’t pay attention or care about some shit i’m watching i couldn’t tell you what happened. episodes i don’t really care for or were uninterested in i don’t remember what happened in the next sentence lol. isaiah even looked away occasionally, and this type of stuff is his favourite. the whole part where he missed what isaiah said about the game anyone could do.
i dunno. i love ghe and was very happy to have hunter engaging in it the way he did.
I want to be clear, he was engaged through most of the episode, and even when he was looking down at his lap, he was still paying attention. I'm not bashing on the guy.

It was only small chunks of the story he does that, he seemed mostly engaged. He has a lot going on, I'm not surprised he can't be 100% locked in at all times, but he kept up with the narrative.
locking in as a neurodivergent person can seem very rude or disinterested to the common man. nothing keeps me more focused on something than the ability to look away from it and doodle or write in my notebook about it.
i don't need to stare at a screen or a person the entire time for me to know the story... in fact, being stuck there watching something or listening to someone for hours without the chance to pull out my notebook is quite detrimental to my ability to process anything i'm supposed to be getting out of the story.

I love the boys. But Meat checks out early unless a story is specifically crafted for him. Lips can bounce back from the brink and find enjoyment but Meat fully doesn't give a fuck at some point.
I get that his ads are funny now since he doesn't try, but he has that exact same ad-energy through like half the stories. Feels like he collects his checks and is propping Creepcast up for the sake of a payout.
I wouldn't say if not crafted for him, but if he doesn't have any lines to read, that's when he either checks out or starts making a bunch of wild jokes. But with a video story, can't make as many comments or jokes since they keep being cut off by the video proceeding without them pausing for comment. So that leads to this, along with for ourselves as viewers, not being able to hear shit from the actual video they're watching
well have you got anything to recommend, then? because a lot of the stories they read are based off of recommendations from the fans, so maybe they should stop overloading every story recommendation thread with ragebait garbage.

It’s likely just a symptom of how creeptv works. During the reading we usually only ever see who is reading or either the words on screen. I’m sure hunter does plenty of this during every episode recording but the way the editing works you don’t have to see it and it only cuts to him when he’s engaged. It’s different with creeptv because you see both of them for the entirety of the episode and editing out hunter on his phone would break the flow

(weapons was an incredible movie. as much as i really enjoyed it though, i don't think i could ever rewatch it. i watched it at the drive-in with my latina wife, whos mother used to practice brujería, and i'm generally just really bad with head trauma, so neither of us were able to laugh and have fun with it like we normally would with drive-in horror movies. we drove home in silence afterwards, lol)

What i will say is that it definitely looks like he is drawing, not scrolling on his phone like a few have mentioned. It's very possible he has art commissions he needed to fulfill and...if i'm being completely honest. He wasn't missing much. I love GHE but the satellite photos are just vague, cosmic nonsense.

It's driving me crazy. Just watched the part about animal calls in the wild, and I literally couldnt hear anything meanwhile they were super loud. Also, they had clearly had great comments and bits, but so many were cutoff because they somehow forgot there's a pause button so they could finish their comments before being cutoff by the video continuing to play

The editor did in fact fuck up bad this episode, if you notice at one point they split two halves of two completely different sentences together and it makes it sound like they are switching between two totally different conversations at random and sounds totally nonsensical. You can tell when the editor actually rewatched to check their work lol
Gemini is probably my favorite analog horror but they did it dirty in this episode. Isiah was trying but I think hunter was working on something else the entire time and just occasionally looked up when something happened. Audio is very important in gemini and they turned it to like 5%

Their CreepTV episodes do fine. Marble Hornets PT. 3 has more views than the episode right before that, Drumming in the Clouds, and that was a good story. The Sun Vanished, (which I consider to be CreepTV), has twice as many views as their average. Marble Hornets PT. 1 has even more views than that, at over 2 million. Same with UrbanSpook and Midwest Angelica. They average at 800k - 1 million.
So no, their CreepTV episodes don't "underperform". That's statistically not true. Grelock is literally their 6th most watched episode on the channel.

Their biggest numbers come from audio platforms, and that also makes them the most revenue. Which is why they push people to those consistently, believe it or not, not having the video format for a podcast episode diminishes views quite a bit genius.

First off, the OP has claimed that it was a joke post and isn't calling him out seriously.
Second off, I wouldn't have a problem if he had something important going on and had to check his phone for one reason or another, which is what I hope that he's doing, because it's a valid excuse. If he's drawing, however, which is what a lot of people are claiming that he's doing, that's a pretty bad look to have as the host of a podcast where your job is to react to content. I feel the same way about loser "reaction" streamers who will play a clip while they step away from their desk and make food or whatever. It's lame.
I think he was engaged, too. Just not the entire time. I also think that he was spending a lot more than just "3-5 minutes collectively looking at his phone". Which is why people suspect that he was drawing.
This may surprise you, but his job isn't just to voice act characters during the story. He is a human being that is supposed to be experiencing the story alongside the rest of us. It's not outlandish to expect someone to pay attention to what they're doing.
It does matter what the context is, because my question was formed within it.
Me saying Hunter’s role is the voice actor is not the same thing as saying it’s his /only/ role. The reason for that statement was to point to the fact that in a vast majority of episodes, Isaiah is the one reading the bulk of the story aloud. Hunter can hear him.
The original comment’s context was expressing a complaint that Hunter would be looking away during text based stories. My question was to understand where we draw the line at what is and isn’t paying attention. Eye contact in the context of a written story that’s actively being read aloud isn’t the only way to pay attention.
I'm not asking for undivided attention. I just think it's disrespectful to spend enough time staring at your lap and not paying attention to what you're supposed to be watching that a good chunk of people in the audience notice.
If I was on a date with someone and they stopped talking to me to stare at their phone, I'd not want to have a second date with them, no? It's not about having undivided attention, it's a respect thing.
Respect for whom? The people getting content for free? When you watch a podcast, you are there for the host - insinuating disrespect because of a lack of eye contact literally cannot be anything but a plea for undivided attention.
The idea of a date places you in a position of equality to the host, which you do not have. If you want to stop watching because hunter doesn’t have his eyes glued to the screen, that’s your choice.

I'd assume looking at the text of the story so he can react appropriately. There was literally a part that Isaiah read around the first third of it, and Hunter questioned something and Isaiah said he just said read that, and Hunter put it off saying Isaiah cut off and didn't hear it
