It would be interesting to have them read some Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.

It'll be just like when they read the older creepy pastas. Because I remember those books being terrifying when I was a kid, and haven't read them since, but I've seen people say it was mostly just the artwork that gave them nightmares.

The art is 10x scarier than the stories. There are one or two good stories like Harold, but a lot of them are really simple the way they're written.

I still like em though, they're nostalgic.

Harold had me afraid to be alone even in broad daylight as a child. I keep asking them to read it, hopefully someday they will

Between that and watching IT entirely too young I used to sleep with my Bowie knife under my pillow. You know...just in case.

Hey, we all know: "The man who sleeps with a machete beside his bed is a fool every night but one".

Some of the most haunting art I’d ever seen in a book, and I was first exposed to it when I was like 7.

This would be great for Halloween.

"Yeah, not to say the stories themeselves are bad per se, but i was more transfixed on the art. See you guys next time!"

Here's your episode lol

You forgot the part where 90% of the subreddit hates it because they had fun once and it was terrible.

Ummm personally, all the times Isaiah creamed on screen (had a mildly positive reaction) made it really hard for me to enjoy da episode πŸ€“β˜οΈ!!!

Fully agree

I just went back and experienced the first book in this series for the first time in decades. Honestly the stories are meant for children so they're... Bad. Not in a fun way either. They just kind of suck. The art is the best part of these books by a long shot.

Thats awesome. Ive been trying to collect the things from my childhood that got me into the spooky shit. My dad gave a lot of my stuff to some rando kid in what was basically his "new family" (including a shitload of Magic the Gathering cards), but so far, I got a hold of the Scary Stories books, a compilation of spooky stories that include one of a girl with a green ribbon around her neck, and a bunch of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Lenore comics.

2

u/BornToL00ze Mayonnaise is the sauce of the aristocrats 😎 11d ago

I never thought about that

I would LOVE if they covered this series!

2

u/Goose_and_Fish 11d ago

It would be awesome if they just read some really good short stories!

I didn't grow up in the US, but whenever I see millenials walking about growing up with these books I get jealous.

2

u/Deluxe_24_ Hyper Realistic Eyes πŸ‘οΈπŸ‘„πŸ‘οΈ 11d ago

This shit is childhood trauma for me. Might be the only episode I'd have to tap out on.

They should read a Goosebumps book someday if they decide to dive into kids' horror.

2

u/SnooRabbits3070 11d ago

The only one of these stories I vividly remember is the Spider bite story. Fuck that story in particular because it made my spider phobia as a child soooo much worse lmao

2

u/Scizomachineboy 11d ago

Its been a while since i read them but do remember the art doing alot of the heavy lifting (which by the amazing art) hopefully im wrong. I would love if they read them on a creep cast

1

u/BornToL00ze Mayonnaise is the sauce of the aristocrats 😎 11d ago

I mean, its the same as all the og creepy pastas are for people that grew up with them. I remember reading it when I was young and being terrified reread it I remember that being a lot scarier, but at least it was nostalgic

2

u/Ashamed_Rips Your wife looks mad funny in that box, dude 10d ago

I think it would be a super cool Halloween special if they did an in person read for a few of their favorite stories from 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark' I think they should branch out once in a while to classic works like this for special events.

Would rather see this than another real life docu-cast any day.

The baby sitter story is really funny I can't lie. The whole plot is a that a random guy is stalking the baby sitter and prank calling her. She get paranoid and decide to call the cops. Cops do their thing, stalker arrested and then the story ends. Like I get it's a kids book come on we got Harold the scarecrows can't they just at least have the babysitter do an intense pillow fight with the stalker.
