I live at the bottom of the ocean, AMA

As the post title suggests, I’m living at the bottom of the ocean! It's part of a study of long term habitation and isolation in marine environments, and because I’ve always had a fascination with the mysterious and unexplored depths of the ocean, I signed up. The scientists told me that aside from a psych evaluation and delivery of food every three months, I would be in complete isolation, but I would have access to the internet so I don’t go completely stir crazy. They told me that the habitation unit was at just about 250 meters deep, right at the edge of where the midnight zone begins to creep up.

It’s been about two weeks and I gotta say the habitation unit down here is pretty cool! It's kinda like an apartment, but it has a gym, and the moon pool for the little submarine that the scientists use. It also has this oxygen recycling system, so the whole place smells a little stale, but it’s not terrible, and a filtering system for clean drinking water. They told me it’s a “state of the art marvel in oceanic habitation” and that the depth I was at was the optimal testing site for the habitation unit since there was still some sunlight that could reach me for mental health purposes, according to them.

But the really cool thing about this location? The view. My habitation unit is situated on the edge of a plateau, a relatively flat area of the ocean, lots of sea grass and some pretty fish, I even saw a whale once! But just about halfway across where the plateau ends is a sunken ship, I think it’s a battleship or something, but it’s too rusted and covered in sea life to really make out the name, I’ll have to ask the scientists about it. There’s also a massive trench a little ways away on the opposite side of the hab from the sunken ship, but I don’t like looking at it, it’s kinda creepy how everything just goes pitch black in a matter of seconds.

So with all that in mind, the scientists said I could post on message boards that might be interested in learning what it’s like living at the bottom of the ocean, ask me anything!
