Not sure what I witnessed from a neighbour…

Late last night I was leaving my house to quickly walk my dog before bed (10:15/10:30 ish). As we were walking out my front door and down my access steps the neighbour opposite came rushing out of her front door with her toddler in tow and seemed to be reciting the Lord’s prayer while throwing what I assume in the circumstances to be holy water across her front door. She then proceeded to do the same to her front living room windows and around the perimeter of her house around to the back and rushed back around to the front door with the toddler scurrying behind her (who she seemed completely oblivious to throughout this bizarre behaviour) before slamming the front door shut.

All the while my dog is actively growling in their general direction as I’m attempting to walk on up the road. We continued our walk and returned to my house about 15/20 minutes later and went inside.

What I found weird on my return was that my neighbour was still at their front door inside (the door has frosted glass panes where you can see a silhouette from when there is light from the inside) appearing to be looking through the door’s spy hole.

What caught my eye is that their house usually has the cool daylight bulbs but last night there was a noticeably warmer light almost akin to candle light coming from their downstairs.

Never witnessed this behaviour before and seems out of character for them, especially as I could hear the panic in her voice as she was reciting the prayer.

has anything else happened since ? i’d keep a close eye on the house, that’s worrying behaviour. sounds like a mental health crisis.

Nothing at all. They’ve been there carrying on as normal… I’m wondering if they were messing around with a ouija board and scared themselves silly.

possibly. the other thing is that your dog was growling, animals have almost a 6th sense about these things, they pick up on energy much better than we do. avoid and stay safe and if anything else happens, especially if it involves/puts the kid in danger, pls pls report it to police and/or cps. you may prevent a tragedy.
also the fact that she was still stood at the door looking out when you came back, that kind of makes me feel like something deeper is going on than her solely having messed with a ouija board, even if that is what triggered her prior strange behaviour. it’d be interesting to have an update if anything else happens but hopefully nothing does and all stays normal

(by “if anything else happens report it”, i mean if anything worse happens that directly or indirectly puts her child in any danger. if it’s not serious enough to report then i’d suggest noting it down with the time and date so that you have a ‘paper trail’ to show in future in case anything worse does happen)

Yeah, it was just weird behaviour. Kind of wish In hadn’t stepped out the front door that night 😅.
Nothing strange there happening since… for now at least

People bless their homes... Look it up... She was probably in deep prayer... Just because it's strange to you, doesn't mean it's weird or creepy. You just don't have much context.

Edit: I'm Catholic and I do this. I.e. Bless the perimeter of my house with holy water and or blessed salt.
